Step2 Naturally Playful Sand Table Review

Review/ Toddlers

Bugs recently celebrated his 2nd birthday. He had shown a great interest in digging and getting mucky in the garden so when Kids Playstore offered to send him a  Step2 Naturally Playful Sand Table we were over the moon!  On his birthday we had it all set up ready for him to go and play in; Set up wasn’t difficult – all you had to do was push the legs into the body of the sand pit, which did take quite a bit of strength but I managed to do it without having to ask Daddy 😉

Really great size sand pit!

Raised off the floor on sturdy legs!

So my first impressions were really quite good; easy to set-up, very sturdy, a selection of tools which was a lovely surprise as I didn’t realise it came with any and also a lid to protect from the rain! Perfect – just what we wanted!

So what did Bugs think of his new toy… Well I’ll let the next picture speak for itself 😉

It made this little boy very happy and continues to do so 😉

I think it is safe to say Bugs was overjoyed with his new sand pit and spent the next 2-3 hours playing in it before he decided he was hungry!

Bugs’s big sister Boo aged 5 really loves playing in the the sand too and there is plenty of room for both of them to enjoy it without many arguments!

Big sister loves to play too!

So you can see from the photos the kids love it; Mum & Dad do too but there are a couple of things that we would change…

Firstly I expected the pit to be a little deeper, having said that the deeper it is the more sand it would hold therefore the more sand that would go on the floor so thinking it about it it probably is the perfect depth I just expected it to be deeper.

Secondly I really would like it to be a little higher – It is about the perfect height for Bugs to use but he does like to sit on one of his little chairs to play unfortunately his little legs won’t go under the table so he sits a little too far away; Boo struggles to play with comfort and I usually get her a cushion to kneel on. It doesn’t stop them playing with it though, they both love it and I would definitely still go out and buy it  knowing what I do now!

What I really love about it –

The lid is good quality and fits really tightly and has two very strong elastic ties to fasten it to the bottom of the sand pit; these are really good and I predict they will withstand any weather! The sand has already survived a few very heavy downpours since we have had it so I’m really pleased with this!

It’s chunky and sturdy and perfect for toddlers!

It made my little man smile the biggest smile he had ever smiled and that was worth every single penny 🙂

The Step2 Naturally Playful Sand Table is priced at £47.99 and I would happily pay this amount for it. Your little ones will have hours of fun with it 🙂

Kids Playstore sent us this item free of charge for review purposes; My experience with them has been brilliant and they sell hundreds of kids toys at really competitive prices – They also offer a price match guarentee so if you do find an item cheaper elsewhere then they will match! 🙂

UPDATE – I am updating this review to say that as I first thought the lid doesn’t keep out water AT ALL! I am not sure how  it lets it in but I have just took the lid off to find it almost completely full of water after not being played with for a week or so! This is really disappointing and I wouldn’t want anyone to go out and buy it thinking that the lid is rainproof! it DEFINITELY is not!

This does look fab, I agree it looks a little short, we are stuck between a sandpit they can sit it and one like this, this is less messy for sure, but gray would have to sit on a chair so not sure he would get his little legs under x

I definitely think a floor one would be better for Grayson x

Wow- that table looks absolutely brilliant! I wonder if it would work for water/other play too?

I think it would need to be a bit deeper for water play hon but I could see other things like rice/messy play working x
