In my post last week I let you all know that World Baking Day sponsored by Stork was coming up, well that day is here at last! Yes that’s right today is World Baking Day.
I pledged to bake a Lemon Drizzle cake for my family. I don’t bake very often mainly because I am totally useless in the kitchen but I wasn’t going to let that stop me today, my family deserved a treat and I was going to give them one.
I choose to follow the Lemon Drizzle recipe from the BBC Good Food website as I have had some luck with their recipes in the past, it is a really easy recipe to follow and turned out wonderfully. I used Stork instead of butter and it was gorgeous! I asked my other half if he enjoyed the piece I had given him and he said “well I must have as I’ve had two more pieces since” and that was in the space of about 30 minutes… It’s probably a good job I don’t bake very often lol 😉
My kids were totally over the moon that I had made them a cake! Bugs said that it was the best cake EVER 😉
I know it isn’t the most perfect cake ever but it tasted delicious and the kids loved it so that’s really all that mattered to me 🙂
You can see the sheer delight on their faces, seriously I never bake for them so this was a real treat and I really enjoyed it too! So I am going to have a go at baking more often and try to get a bit better 😉 I’d love to be able to make them awesome birthday cakes!
If you fancy joining in the World Baking day fun then head over to their social media accounts… Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, where you will be able to share the photos of your baking. Make sure you use the hashtag #WorldBakingDay on your posts 🙂
Have fun baking for your loved ones! I have and continue to do so 🙂
