Please Help Me Help Grayson!

Those of you that have followed my blog for a long time will know that five years ago I organised Grayson’s Trike Auction and raised over £2,000 so my lovely friend Kara’s son could have a brand new trike which helped him tremendously. I collected over 100 items and auctioned them off over on Facebook. It was wonderful to see everyone come together to help Grayson.

Grayson by definition is a SWAN – SWAN is a term given to Children/Adults who have “a Syndrome without a Name” Grayson has brain damage, severe Global Developmental Delay and is physically and mentally disabled.

You probably won’t have heard of many children like Grayson who don’t have a diagnosis as they are rare, they are not publicised about as they don’t have a “fashionable” condition, this doesn’t make them less important and worthy of support and treatment but unfortunately more often than not this is what happens.

Over the last five years I’ve watched Kara and Ashley struggle financially while trying their hardest to give their three amazing children the best lives that they possible can. Last year was particularly hard for the family as doctors said they didn’t foresee Grayson living past the summer but being the superhero that he is Grayson proved them wrong!

This beautiful boy has truly been through the mill. Last year he lost the ability to walk, spending any awake hours restricted to being able to sit and sometimes that was not even possible. Seizures came in the hundreds every day but thankfully doctors took a chance on an old school drug and currently his seizures are manageable.

Today I have decided that I will running another online auction to help raise some money for equipment that Grayson so desperately needs! His biggest need right now is a special pushchair (pictured below) which is going to set Kara and Ashely back by over £2,000!! My aim is to raise enough money so that they can buy him this and hopefully more of the equipment he may need.

So how can you help?

1. You can donate an item to be auctioned off – The auction will take place on Facebook starting on the 3rd April. I will have a full list of items available on the blog before the auction. Please contact me ASAP to donate.

2. Bid on items while the auction is live.

3. If you can’t commit to the first two then maybe you would just like to donate. All donations can be made to my paypal account and they will be added to the final auction total.

4. It would be amazing if you could help me get the word out about this auction for Grayson so we can collect as many donations as possible so please share this post as far and as wide as possible!

Thank you so much for those people that I have already spoke to who would like to donate. You are all amazing and I know with a little bit of hard work we can get Grayson his new pushchair and help keep that gorgeous smile on his face!

You can see some of the items donated to the #AuctionforGrayson here 🙂

I’d never heard of SWAN before. It’s so nice to be able to support your friend and her son in this practical way. I will share your post and see if I have anything to donate to the auction.
