Today I am thinking about babies, we are due to have a new baby in the family soon so I thought I’d do a bit of research and find out what the ‘must have’ products are at the moment… it’s been a while since I did this for my little ones so I’m kinda out of the loop.
Not only have you got my suggestions but you also have suggestions from some of the top UK parenting bloggers, between us we have an enormous amount of baby experience…
One of my most favourite gifts back when I had my oldest was a baby monitor, back then they didn’t have video it was just sound but it was the most used product that we were given. Nowadays you can buy some amazing baby monitors and they make fantastic gifts for a new baby. This eufy Security SpaceView baby monitor is the must have item for your new baby!
Not only can you see your baby but you can talk to her too with the built in microphone and speaker to give you direct communication! SpaceView’s large 5″ 720p resolution display shows a bright, crisp and clear picture. It also has night vision technology. You can also add a wide angle lens (included) so you can see the whole nursery. The monitor has a full 460 ft of coverage range so you can be enjoying an evening in the garden while still feeling like you have your baby at your side!
This special day bouquet from Appleyard London would make a beautiful gift to celebrate the new arrival. I never expected anyone to buy me anything but it was such a wonderful surprise when I had bouquets delivered to my room when I was in hospital. It made me feel a little bit special when I was suffering with those awful baby blues.
This Peter Rabbit Baby Collection Changing Backpack is just gorgeous. Priced at £59.95 it is perfect for carrying all mum and baby’s essentials. It’s the perfect size for fitting in all those essentials that you need to carry around with you and it is wipe clean as well so you can keep it looking in lovely condition.
I’m a little bit in love with this GUND Peter Rabbit Large Soft Toy. My babies have always loved their bunnies and I know this gorgeous soft Peter Rabbit would be just adored by any new mum & baby. An absolutely beautiful gift for just £19.95.
One item that we used all the time was a Grobag, we didn’t use them right from the off but from a few months old Grobag’s were one of our essential items. They come in different sizes and togs and aren’t that cheap so having them bought as gifts would have made things a bit easier. They come in the most gorgeous designs and are perfect for keeping your little one at the perfect temperature.
One thing you can never have enough of are muslin cloths! I still use them and my baby is almost NINE!! I love this beautiful Aden + Anais gift set. What a gorgeous gift.
If you are still unsure then talk to the parents about what they could really use, If you would like to buy clothes for example ask what age range they would like them for, they may have bought enough for the newborn stage and would like some for when they get a bit older to save them having to buy so much later.
I’ve been talking with some top UK parenting bloggers about the perfect gift and here are some of their favourite gifts that they were bought for their newborns.
I was bought a gift voucher for making each of my daughter’s special baby clothes into a keepsake. They both now have a very precious teddy. [Kate – refinedprose.com]
I bought myself a Morrck car seat blanket and since then I’ve bought them for all of my friends who have had babies. It was perfect for sitting in the car seat to keep baby warm without needing coats. They have all loved them. [Sarah – champagneandpetals.com]
My favourite gift was some luxury muslins (Aden + Anais) they were more than I would have bought for myself but they were lovely and so useful. We still use them now even though my son is well out of the baby stage. [Emma – mrsshilts.co.uk]
My favourite was a box full of nappies, wipes, bum cream etc from my Dad and Stepmum. It was definitely the most useful gift. [Steph – acornishmum.com]
I have to say Shaun the Dream sheep was my favourite. I wish I’d known about white noise and how awesome it was with my previous babies. [Susan – susankmann.com]
Bigger sized clothes. I had so many newborn and 0-3 stuff that they hardly wore it. I hadn’t got much 3-6 and 6-9 size stuff so this was a godsend. I always do this now for friends when they have a baby as I remember how much more I appreciated it. [Beth – twinderelmo.co.uk]
My favourite gift for my son was a gorgeous set from The White Company. It’s not something I would have been able to afford myself but it was a beautiful soft cotton pair of trousers and matching top in grey with white clouds. I’ve kept it I love it that much! [Erica – theincidentalparent.com]
And if you think you might like to treat the new mum then here are a few suggestions for her too 🙂
An insulated water bottle. I planned to breast feed and you can get really thirsty. My friend bought me a bottle as I prefer my drinks super cold and not room temp. [Jaymee – themumdiaries.co.uk]
A voucher for a pamper session . Which was nice to have as all the presents were for the new baby . It was so lovely that someone thought about that I had gone through. [Jessica – beautiesandthebibs.co.uk]
I reckon the best gift for new parents would be insulated travel mugs so that they have a vague chance of having a hot cuppa again before their child turns 4! [Steph – acornishmum.com]
