Nottingham by Helicopter

Adventures/ day out/ Experience

A helicopter flight has been on my wish list for ages, despite having done it when I was little I really wanted to experience it again so I was over the moon a couple of months a go when the lovely people at Buyagift sent me a voucher for a 25-35 Minute Extended Helicopter Flight for Two and last Saturday we finally got to have our helicopter experience over Nottingham.

Once we received the voucher we had to go to the Buyagift website to book the experience. This was very simple and there were many locations and dates to choose from. The first one available was the 12th May and when I booked it seemed like we had ages to wait but it came around so quickly 🙂

Central Helicopters Nottingham

James had never been in a helicopter before but I had been in one when I was little and I loved it so was very excited to get to go up in one again. We arrived at Nottingham Heliport about 15 minutes before our check in time. We had been given a list of things to take with us on the website but we didn’t actually need any of it when we arrived.

One person per flight gets to upgrade to sit with the pilot (at an extra cost) and I really wanted to treat James to this but someone had already beaten us to it unfortunately… next time we know to get there a bit earlier to try and upgrade.

The staff at Nottingham heliport were fab, they gave us a quick safety briefing and then we were on our way to the helicopter for our flight. A photographer came and took our photos in front of the helicopter which they offered to you after the flight at £10 each.

Our helicopter held the pilot and six passengers. One in the front with the pilot and five in the back. There is a row of three facing forward and two seat facing back. Unfortunately one person has to squeeze into the middle seat which I really don’t think gets a great view so I was very pleased to not get this seat but I felt really sorry for the girl that did.

Once seated we were all given a pair of headphones with a microphone so that we could all talk to one another and listen to Sean the Pilot telling us all about where we were flying.

Our flight lasted for 30 minutes and took us 55 miles over Nottingham and the surrounding countryside. First of all we flew out to Belvoir Castle, then over the city where Sean pointed out Trent Bridge cricket ground, the football grounds and other places of interest before flying us out to Wollaton Hall.

It was a brilliant tour and so great to see the city we know so well from the air. I have to admit to feeling a little queasy while flying especially when turning around but overall it was an amazing experience that I would love to do again.

We would both highly recommend the helicopter experience, we had an amazing flight and would definitely do it again. Here is a short video I made of our flight…

* Our Buyagift voucher was complimentary but as always, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

I love the idea of going on a helicopter ride! Sounds like you had a lovely time. I agree with you, I wouldn’t like to sit in the middle, I’d want to see EVERYTHING!!
