Please welcome the lovely Sarah to my blog this morning to tell you all about her new business venture which I think is just brilliant! Don’t leave this page without entering the fab give-away at the bottom xx
Who are you?
Sarah Tollit, mum to a girlie girl 3 year old and a very energetic 2 year old boy. Both believers in magic!
What do you do?
I own the The Magic Door Store.
My Fairy Door and My Elf Door – stylish miniature doors, beautifully packaged, designed and hand crafted right here in the UK.
Magic Doors provide a platform for your child to enjoy creative and imaginative play, whether alone or with others.
Just imagine their excitement at discovering tiny fairy dust footprints on the floor, little collections of items hidden in corners, or gifts and messages left especially for them by their fairy friends.
When did you establish your business?
April 2013 and the website went live last week!
What made you start your own business?
Working for myself had been a dream of mine and when the idea struck, I took the leap and went for it! My little girl had been asking for a Fairy Door and I just couldn’t find one that was quite right! So I designed a lovely, Regency style door and started work on creating the branding as this is key to the product.
What do you love about working for yourself?
Being able to run upstairs to my workshop, pack some orders, get covered in magic dust and still be able to play with the kids! Spreading the magic is awesome too. The feedback has been amazing and the pictures people are sending in of their Magic Doors all set up are fantastic!
Is there anything you do not like about working for yourself?
One week of taking orders and we have run out of toilet roll, the cupboards are bare and the laundry bin is overflowing but I’m sure I will get better at this balancing act!
Is there anything you would go back and do differently if you could?
This is a massive learning curve and I’m sure my friends would say they wish I would stop boring them with all the details!
What advice would you give to a Mum considering starting her own business?
Ignore my previous answer and talk to as many people about your business as possible. Oh and pull in all of those favours you are owed– I wouldn’t have made it this far if it wasn’t for help from my lovely friends and family.
Sarah is very kindly giving away either My Fairy Door or My Elf Door in any colour. The full range can be viewed at here.
Your Magic Door gives your fairy visitors their very own magical entrance into your home.
All they require is somewhere quiet and secret so they can come and go as they please, sprinkling love and magic once everyone is fast asleep.
Just imagine the excitement of discovering tiny magic dust footprints on the floor, little gifts and messages left especially by your fairy friends.
Please don’t handle My Fairy Door roughly, or it might frighten the fairies away.
An inspirational gift to unlock your imagination.
Each Magic Door comes beautifully packaged with a small bottle of Magic Dust, welcome note for the fairies and putty to attach to your wall.
Just complete the Rafflecopter below to enter – Good Luck xxx
