The lovely Jess from Zebra Pooh Designs is on the blog today to tell you about herself and her lovely new business! Thanks so much for your time Jess – I wish you every success with your business x
Who are you?
My name is Jess Parry.
What do you do?
I run Zebra Pooh Designs which designs and makes one of a kind baby products. Our most popular products are our ‘strap and wrap’ buggy blankets and our ‘baby bandit’ dribble bibs.
When did you establish your business?
Zebra Pooh Designs is only a baby as we started trading in June this year.
What made you start your own business?
I spent a lot of time looking for blankets and bibs for my girls that were just a bit different from the things everyone else has. As all women know there is nothing as bad as turning up to a party and having the same dress as someone else, so this is my way of fixing this problem for babies.
What do you love about working for yourself?
I love creating things! It makes me genuinely happy to think that I have made something with my own two hands that people love! I also like the flexibility of my work as it means that when one of my many children are poorly I don’t have to worry about not being able to go into work, as I work at home. Plus my boss is awesome 😉
Is there anything you do not like about working for yourself?
The hardest thing about working for yourself is finding time to not work. I find that I am thinking about the business all of the time! It’s also turned me into an extremely boring person which I think my wonderful family and friends who are very tolerant and patient can confirm, as the business is all I tend to talk about! I’m like a pregnant mummy all over again except this baby is my business.
Is there anything you would go back and do differently if you could?
I would have done it sooner.
What advice would you give to a Mum considering starting her own business?
My best advice is just do it, but do it with dogged determination. Believe in your ideas and trust your instincts but always be prepared to listen.
Jess is very kindly offering one of her ‘baby bandit’ dribble bibs to one of my lucky readers, The winner will win a custom bib in a fabric of their choice from a huge selection.
