The lovely Sarah is my Mumpreneur feature today – You can find her work here – http://www.facebook.com/ShopHollyberry
Who are you?
I’m Sarah, a 30 year old first time mum. I live in Poole, Dorset with my husband Peter & our daughter Holly who was born in May this year.
What do you do?
I’m currently half way through Maternity Leave from an IT role and have set up “Hollyberry Boutique” – an online shop selling handmade cards, gifts & nursery/bedroom items for babies and children, specialising in personalised products.
Products include wall letters, photo frames, photo albums, door signs, new baby & birthday cards and at the moment Christmas decorations & cards.
The website is still under construction but the Facebook page has lots of products on it: http://www.facebook.com/ShopHollyberry
When did you establish your business?
August 2011
What made you start your own business?
Partly as a little hobby but mainly to earn some extra cash so that I can have my full year’s maternity leave and hopefully only return to work part time. Since having my daughter I’ve realised that individual handmade products are lovely gifts for babies and children but also make nice keepsakes for later on.
What do you love about working for yourself?
I can be creative and have more time to spend with my daughter
Is there anything you do not like about working for yourself?
Not yet but it’s early days!
Is there anything you would go back and do differently if you could?
Again not yet, maybe ask me again in 6 months!
What advice would you give to a Mum considering starting her own business?
Do it! Life’s too short to sit around wondering ‘what if’!
