Mumpreneur Feature – Nanette

Mum in Business

The lovely Nanette from is my featured Mumpreneur on the blog this morning. Hope you all make her feel welcome ;O)

Who are you?
I’m Nanette a ‘young’ 32 year old, married to Russell we have a 5 year little girl called Lily-Rose.

What do you do?
I work from home running my business Lily-Rose Designs we make gifts for every happy event from Births to Weddings……Christenings to Baby Showers…….Wedding invites to Birthday gifts.
When did you establish your business?
I’ve been running my business for about 2 years now, i started with a gift for my God Daughter and it just grew from there, i make gifts for people all round the world. Last year i started to design my own range of wedding collections
‘Ruby’s Rocks’
‘Ellie’s Elegance and ‘Love Letters.

At the start of next year we will be offering a new range of gifts i have sourced these gifts from a very special supplier we will have something for everyones tastes i have also decided to take Lily-Rose Designs to another level i will be offering Party Nights so you can see a range of our gifts in the flesh so to speak…the hostess will receive a discount off her order, i will provide invites and cupcakes.

What made you start your own business?
I worked for a bank and wanted to do a little bit more then the day to day of not spending time with my growing little girl. so i tuck the plunge and its really taken off. I’ve always been in to design and being creative so this is my Perfect Job.
What do you love about working for yourself?
I love being my own boss,i love that i can enjoy my job and spend quality time with my family. I love my office (we have just decorated so now its very pink and girly)
Is there anything you do not like about working for yourself?
Someone to bounce ideas off so i really have to take a chance on some of my gifts & ideas but thank goodness they have paid off.
Is there anything you would go back and do differently if you could?
I wished i done this years ago.
What advice would you give to a Mum considering starting her own business?
It takes a LOT of hard work and determination, when i first started my business i was up to all hours so be prepared to put the work in and it will all pay off in the end.
