Klair the owner of Love Umbrellas is my Mumpreneur feature on the blog this morning! Please make her feel welcome and say hi and check out her gorgeous umbrellas :O)
Who are you?
I’m Klair, 31, Mum of Charlie who is now 9 months old, from Manchester
What do you do?
I am the owner of Love Umbrellas, a new company customising umbrellas to make the British weather a little more bearable!
We are really popular with Brides planning their Wedding days, and the fashion conscious who don’t want their outfit ruined by a drab umbrella.
June 2011, so we haven’t been going for very long at all.
What made you start your own business?
Myself and my partner took voluntary redundancy when our son was 4 months old, and we wanted to spend as long as possible at home, being a family.
I was inspired by some rainy summer days, and everyone looking glum, so thought it was time someone did something about it!
What do you love about working for yourself?
That I can be a Mum at home and can work my business around him.
Is there anything you do not like about working for yourself?
Nothing at all.
Is there anything you would go back and do differently if you could?
I would ensure that I was ready for the amount of demand we had when we were just starting out.
What advice would you give to a Mum considering starting her own business?
Go for it! If it enables you to be a stay at home Mum, if that’s what you want – go for it!
