Who are you?

I am Kelly, Mum, Wife, Worker and Mumpreneur!

What do you do?

I (along with my husband) run Piddley Pix, we sell Limited Edition pictures for kids and their favourite spaces! We also do commissioned pictures, illustrations and are going to expand our range shortly into canvases and cards (Christmas cards are already on the site!)

When did you establish your business?

The idea was born and the website was bought in April 2009, but the real start of the business was April 2010!

What made you start your own business?

In March 2008 I had my first child, and as he was approaching the latter end of his first year we looked to turn his room into more of a boy’s room instead of a babies room!
Looking for pictures for his wall we couldn’t find exactly what we were looking for, so as we both like being creative, we did our own, this is where the idea was born!
We originally decided to set the business up as a side ‘hobby’ business as we both had work already, but quickly realised this is where our passion lies and I have always wanted to be at home while my children are young so this was the answer!

What do you love about working for yourself?

That you make the rules! You are in charge, so you can make your working hours fit around your children, you can stick to your own morals and the goal you are striving for is yours!
So, ultimately you can have it your way, you can work late at night if it means you get to go on a play date, you can take a day off to visit an event at nursery and you can say no to work if it doesn’t agree with what you believe!

Is there anything you would go back and do differently if you could?

Yes! I would not start out thinking this is a hobby business, I can’t put my all into it as I have to do my real work and be a mum, wife and friend!  I would of taken the step of faith and said from the outset that this is a business, I would of believed in myself more!
When good things have happened it has taken a while to believe it – but I can do this, and I am doing this, for me and for my family!

Finally If there is 1 thing that you could tell other Mums who want to start there own business; what would it be?

Stay Positive and Keep Going!
It can be hard, but if it is something you believe in and you can do it, then a little passion and hard work can make it happen!

Kelly is offering my readers a 10% discount for our site, you just need to input the code TML10 at the checkout – valid until 1st December 2010! Thanks Kelly x
