The lovely Eve from Baba+Boo is on the blog today – please say hi and don’t forget to enter the fab giveaway at the bottom of her interview 😉
Who are you?
I’m Eve Bell, mum to Seth 4 and Louisa 2 and owner of Baba+Boo
What do you do?
I am mainly trying to keep as many balls in the air as possible! I run my busy online baby boutique which specialises in cloth nappies whilst also selling lots of other lovely baby accessories. I am also stay at home mum to the children who only go to nursery part time.
When did you establish your business?
I started it in 2009 when my youngest child was 9 weeks old, I look back and wonder how on earth I did it. I think the hormones must have been still all over the place!
What made you start your own business?
When I looked into cloth nappies for my second child I was shocked at how much I’d have to spend to buy them. A £300 investment just seemed like too much, and, being a former buyer, I knew I could source nappies that were just as good, but for a much better price.
But I also wanted my nappies to be a fashion statement. As mums we all care about how our children look, so I’ve been to great lengths to source funky prints, meaning baby can look good literally from top to bottom
Named after my two children, Baba + Boo is now a thriving business.
What do you love about working for yourself?
I love how I can dictate my working hours but the best bit is building a business which I am so passionate about.
Is there anything you do not like about working for yourself?
I work from my kitchen, so I miss working with people and miss office banter. Whilst I can dictate my working hours, the hours I work are often late into the night. I am answering these questions at 9.30pm on a Sunday night!
Is there anything you would go back and do differently if you could?
No I don’t think so. Running a business is a huge learning curve and I have learnt so much from the mistakes I’ve made along the way. Any lows you get running a business, just makes the highs a lot better…and they are the best things about running a business.
What advice would you give to a Mum considering starting her own business?
Just to be prepared to work really, really hard! It’s hard juggling it all but it’s really worth it.
