We have the lovely Frances on the blog today from Bigbooklittlebookcardboardbox. Frances has kindly given my readers 10% discount if you shop from this page http://www.bigbooklittlebookcardboardbox.co.uk/boxoftricks by the end of June 2011 🙂

Who are you?
I’m Frances and I live in Yorkshire with my husband, our little boy aged nearly 3 and our two dogs.
What do you do?
I developed my product bigbooklittlebookcardboardbox – a green affordable children’s bookcase, designed to encourage and early love of reading – and sell it through my website, on ebay and Amazon and through other online stockists.
When did you establish your business?
I have been trading since July 2010.
What made you start your own business?
I wanted to be spend as much time as possible with my son during his childhood. I decided to heed the age-old advice that time passes so quickly when they are young, and before I knew it he would be a monosylabic hulk of a teenager not wanting to be seen dead with his old mum! I want to enjoy his childhood with him and experience each stage of his development at close hand.
What do you love about working for yourself?
Getting feedback from customers is really rewarding as I’m able to take full credit for the product and the service I provide. Customer satisfaction means a great deal more to me running my own business than it did when I was working for an employer.
Is there anything you do not like about working for youself?
Not really. I do find it hard to switch off – I’m always thinking about new ways to develop and promote my product, but I think that is more a function of working from home, rather than working for myself.
Is there anything you would go back and do differently if you could?
I’d have a website that I could update myself. My web designer is fantastic but I have to go back to her for every single change on my website, which adds up.
