Elaine from A Little Bit of Hope is on the blog today; if you read right to the bottom you’ll be able to enter her fab little giveaway too 🙂
Who are you?
I’m Elaine, founder of online retailer www.alittlebitofhope.co.uk which is named after my daughter whose middle name is Hope. I also work part time as a Speech & Language Therapy Assistant.
What do you do?
I have set up an independent online business selling affordable gifts, home accessories, stationery and children’s items. I wanted to offer a mix of design led and more mainstream items to appeal to all occasions and budgets.
When did you establish your business?
What made you start your own business?
I wanted to do something completely different from the ‘day job’ and I was also thinking about providing a positive role model for my daughter and to show her that anything is possible, even if it means taking a risk
What do you love about working for yourself?
Being in charge!
Is there anything you do not like about working for yourself?
It’s incredibly time consuming, far more than I had ever anticipated, and because I also work I end up with lots of very late nights!
Is there anything you would go back and do differently if you could?
I am hoping to work more with local crafts people to have a dedicated ‘local & handmade’ section, I think I would have got that organised sooner
What advice would you give to a Mum considering starting her own business?
Definitely go for it, I always think that even if things don’t work out the way you had hoped, at least you know you have tried, rather than looking back and wishing you had.
Elaine is also kindly giving away a Emma Bridgewater Hearts Address Book (above) to one of my lucky readers. To enter just complete the Rafflecopter below.
