Mumpreneur Feature – Donna Pinnell

Mum in Business
Today Donna Pinnell from The Little Lily Pad Company is our Mumpreneur feature. Don’t forget to say hi and leave Donna some love 🙂 You can also find Donna on Twitter @littlelilypadco

Who are you?

I am Donna, mum to one 5 year old princess and I am a shopaholic!

What do you do?

After being a PA and HR Advisor for over 15 years, I now indulge my desire to find gorgeous gifts, that you cant find on the high street.

When did you establish your business?

Business was established in 2010.

What made you start your own business?

I have always loved scouring the shops and internet for beautiful and unusual gifts but have made many mistakes in paying ALOT of money for items when there are so many other fantastic products available. So our ethos is to find or make gorgeous things, without the designer price tags or the awful plastic packaging that come with many modern gifts!

What do you love about working for yourself?

I love the challenge of finding beautiful things and feeling rewarded when people love the items we offer. Plus I love that the Lilttle Lilypad Co is a real family affair from my daughters name and help in choosing childrens gifts, to my parents helping when we do events too and everything in between.

Is there anything you would go back and do differently if you could?

I wouldnt have hesitated for as long as I did!

Finally If there is 1 thing that you could tell other Mums who want to start there own business; what would it be?

It would be to embrace social media, it expands your customer base and support network ….. which leads me to my other recommendation which is to network network network. Whether it be at events, shows or the local nursery, give your cards, flyers or web address out to anyone that will listen.
