The lovely Amanda from Mama Jewels joins us today & see the end of the post for a Fab dicount :)) You can also find Amanda on Twitter @mamajewelsuk

Who are you?

Amanda Waring, 37 Workaholic Wife, Mum and Mumpreneur

What do you do?

Owner of Mama Jewels – Award winning Elegant Mummyproof jewellery designed for Mums with young children and beyond.

When did you establish your business?

May 2010, whilst under threat of redundancy. I was on maternity leave and had been working on the testing for Mama Jewels, it was just the right time.

What made you start your own business?

I was facing redudancy from my job as a Project Manager whilst on Maternity leave in Feb 2010 and had been selling my jewellery by word of mouth. I had always wanted to work for myself and the time just seemed right. I just thought, it’s now or never (probably a bit dramatic) and I really have nothing to lose, well except quite a bit of money I have invested!

What do you love about working for yourself?

The Flexibility, having my children as involved as possible, being my own Boss, discovering my true passion and feeling incredibly driven.

Is there anything you would go back and do differently if you could?

Lots of little things, sleep more probably but nothing major. I have amazing freinds and family who are supporting me all the way but I still lose sleep planning my next strategy!

Finally If there is 1 thing that you could tell other Mums who want to start there own business; what would it be?

Sorry, are three things ok? Get a mentor and be prepared to work harder than you ever have in your life and be incredibly passionate about your product or service. In my experience it takes over your life – I am still waiting for my Yacht in the South of France !
Amanda has very very kindly giving my readers a 15%  discount code MUMLUV 15 which will run until Christmas! Thanks Amanda x

I love the idea of mummy proof jewels – I've pretty much stopped wearing jewellery because of tiny hands pulling it or getting caught so this might be the answer!
