Last week we headed to Drayton Manor Theme Park to check out the Thomas Land Expansion opening. We are huge fans of Thomas Land already so we knew any expansion would only make it a much better place and we were so right!
We were very lucky to be invited to the press opening and get to experience the new rides before the general public, the Fat Controller officially opened all the rides and the kids absolutely loved all the confetti and fireworks that went along with it.
We were also treated to candy floss, popcorn and ice creams which the kids (and me) couldn’t have been happier about 😉 I LOVE candy floss… but not the sticky mess that my 4 yr old boy makes with it 😉
The expansion includes three new rides Captain’s Sea Adventure, Flynn’s Fire Rescue and Toby’s Tram Express. Unfortunately Toby’s Tram Express was having a few issues on the day so we didn’t get to ride on him but the kids absolutely loved Captain’s Sea Adventure and Flynn’s Fire Rescue. The fact that they get to squirt water on both of them is just fab, all kids love to squirt other people with water so Captain’s Sea Adventure is hilarious fun as you can squirt the people in the queue, the people watching and other people on the ride too! SO much fun!!!
As well as the new rides Thomas Land now boasts a two-storey Sodor Airport complex, equipped with balconies offering ‘travellers’ unrivalled views of Thomas Land and beyond from themed rooms. This has an amazing cafe in downstairs which sells the most gorgeous cakes! I wish I had taken a photo of them now but I just remember the most enormous eclairs!! Yum!
There is so much more to explore at Drayton Manor Theme Park, not only is it home to Thomas Land you can also find a zoo, an amazing play area, a dino trail, an indoor play area, Thomas exhibition, a 4D cinema and many other rides. It is most definitely worth a day out, we always arrive for the opening of the rides and leave when it closes, you can pack so much into a day and still have thing left over to do.
We had another wonderful day out at Thomas Land and will most certainly be back to explore more in the next month or so, the kids haven’t stopped talking about it since we got back!
