While we were on holiday in Pembrokeshire a couple of weeks ago we visited Folly Farm Adventure Park & Zoo for the day. Folly Farm have twice been the winner of Wales Tourist Board’s ‘Best Day Out in Wales’ and once the Pembrokeshire Tourism’s ‘Best Family Day Out’ award so we were very excited to visit.
As soon as we arrived we headed to the Jolly Barn which is full of fun things for the kids to do and lots of animals for them to meet. They both loved meeting the owls and finding out all about them and Boo loved meeting the fuzzy Guinea Pig at Cwtch Corner.
It’s not just animals to see in the Jolly Barn but there is so much to learn too, the kids (and daddy) loved the chalk board and spent ages drawing the animals 🙂 They also enjoyed a game of Battlesheep, there are eight hands-on exhibits, all seeking to raise knowledge of farming practices, where food comes from and of farm animals in general so you can be sure to go home with the kids (and even you) having learned something new.
We then moved onto Folly Interactive, which is an education-based sensory centre. There is so much to see and do in the sensory centre, we could have spent hours in there. The Parrots were absolutely beautiful and the kids loved watching the Common Marmoset Monkeys play. They spent ages uncovering fossils and tracing endangered species and they both completed their passports by getting stars after each challenge.
One of their favourite activities was to guess whose poo they were looking at, it was *erm* very interesting lol 😉 They also enjoyed an activity called “What’s the Whiff?” where they had to guess what a particular smell was.
The whole place was full of interesting facts. Finally I got the answer to the age old question ‘Which came first, the chicken or the egg?’ and can you believe that we could be using the same water now as back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth?
There was so many play areas the kids could enjoy, everywhere you went there was something for them to play on. We went on a drizzly day but that didn’t stop the fun. Even if it had been raining heavily we would still have had enough to do indoors, Carousel Woods is a HUGE indoor adventure playground and the kids would not tire of playing in there.
We went off to the zoo next, which has over 50 different species! We loved seeing our favourites… the Giraffe’s, lions and penguins 🙂 The Giraffes are beautiful, they have a huge enclosure and we loved finding out all about the at the giraffe talk.
Lastly we visited the vintage fun fair which is amazing fun! You do have to pay for this, 1 token = 50p and most rides the kids went on were just 1 token so it wasn’t too much of an expense. The carousel was beautiful and it went pretty fast too! It is always our favourite ride at a funfair 🙂
There were so many fab rides for the kids to go on and they loved every minute of it. There were lots of rides for older kids too so don’t worry if your kids are older than mine there is something for everyone. I tried to get mine on the ghost train but they were a bit too scared.
We loved visiting the hall of mirrors, I remember loving these when I was little so I hope that my kids remember these memories when they are older too. We have never laughed so much 😉
I loved all the old vintage arcade games and the fact you could still play them. I really wish I had taken more change with me as I would have loved to play on them more.
We had a fantastic day out at Folly Farm Adventure Park & Zoo and would highly recommend it, there is so much to do and so much fun to be had, it really is worth every penny.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful, the whole place was clean and had a very well looked after feel to it. We ate lunch at The Grilled Burger Co and it was very good quality food. There are plenty of toilets and they were all very clean too.
If you are in Wales and looking for a day out then I wouldn’t hesitate to suggest you visit Folly Farm, a fun day out for the whole family whether it rains or shines.
Make sure you take some money with you to visit the shop on the way out as it is full of wonderful toys and beautiful gifts.
* We received complimentary entry into Folly Farm Adventure Park & Zoo but will happily pay full price on our next trip as it really is such a great day out.

I’ve never been to Folly Farm funny enough, despite the fact that I used to live fairly close! x
This looks like a brilliant day out. I’ve bookmarked this as we’re often over that way visiting family
It looks amazing there, and so much to do and see.
I think the vintage fairground is my fave bit!
What a fab place to visit. If we are even in Wales I will put it on our list. You are so lucky to live so close
there looks like so much to do! I want to play battlesheep and I think my boys would love the park and the zoo
Yes!! We went to Folly Farm last winter and loved it. All the vintage fairground stuff is amazing and I love how there’s so much to do even in cold or wet weather!
I have always wanted to know the answer to the chicken and the egg question! Looks like a fabulous day out! 🙂
It looks like a great place to visit with lots to do. I really fancy a game of Battle Sheep now. I love the nostalgic arcade games too. As for the mirrors, I used to find the one that would make me look short as I was so concious of being taller than all my peers.
