Finding My Inner Girl – Welcome :)

General Chit Chat

Hi there! Welcome to my first blog post on ‘Finding My Inner Girl’ some of you will know me from Twitter and This Mummy Loves… But for those of you who don’t Hi – lovely to meet you 😉

I’m Sonia, 35 year old Mum and Photographer, I’ve blogged at This Mummy Loves for over two years now and have been a blogger since 2001! I love being a ‘Mummy Blogger’ but I now need a space just for me.

Me & My Daughter

I was always a bit of a tom boy as a child, in my teens I was over weight and just wore whatever fitted. I had no interest in clothes and felt so terrible about myself that I learnt not to care. I had my first child at just 19 and have had two more since. My weight has fluctuated over the years from 11 stone to 17 stone – I’m currently somewhere in between 😉 My confidence has always been pretty low and i’ve suffered from depression – I have always put my effort into making sure the kids looked good and had what they needed, which isn’t a bad thing but when you are neglecting yourself it can be. I always feel much better about myself when I’ve had my hair/ nails etc done yet I’ve never been WORTH IT!

As I get older I am starting to appreciate myself more and I know I don’t look that bad and if I made the effort I could look great! So that’s what this is all about really…

Looking great = feeling great!

This is going to be my journey of discovering my ‘inner girl’ – Inside I’m pretty girlie, I love pink and adore nice things, yet if you saw me in my hoody, jeans and trainers you’d never guess! I’m going to learn to feel good about myself, figure out what looks good on me and generally feel better about myself, I’m going to take better care of my hair, nails, skin, diet, fitness – the whole lot! I’m also going to try and lose the hoody & jeans for good!

Leaving the hoody & jeans behind…

I’d love for you to stick around and say hi – and keep popping back to follow my progress, it’s going to be fun I promise 😉

This blog pleases me so much. Not only because the design is pure gorgeousness, or that I get to see more of my best friend. But mainly because I feel this is you. Being true and honest for you. You are a truly beautiful woman and inspiration to me certainly but I know you struggle with inner feelings. I hope your girl shines through and makes you smile and our spa day is a real must now.

Sonia apart from being an amazing mum and absolutely lovely person i have to disagree with one of your comments.

looking good does not = feeling good.

you have it the wrong way round huni – no matter what your shape or size if you feel good you look good!!!! xxxx

    • Reply Sonia October 11, 2012 at 10:16 pm

Hi Karen. You can disagree with it generally but you cannot disagree with how I feel. I was talking about ME and I always feel better when I look good, I know it’s not about shape or size, I never said it was. It’s about making me feel better about myself by making more effort! X
