Fab Children’s Books!

Books/ Review

Boo was sent three fab children’s books from Maverick Children’s Books a few weeks ago and I really want to tell you how great we think they are. Firstly she was sent The Fearsome Beastie by Giles Paley-Phillips; Giles even signed this one for her and what made her very happy was that he also drew her a scary face! 😉 The Fearsome Beastie has a bit of a scary plot and I’m sure a few children (the especially nervous) will be a little scared by it and I think Boo was a little shocked by it at first but it has a very happy ending when Gran saves the day!

Boo LOVES this book and it has become a firm favourite and she opts to read it as a bedtime story most nights now! This story reminds me of one we used to have on a record when we were kids and that memory remains one of my firm favourites and I am sure that The Fearsome Beastie will be the same for Boo and many other children!

The Fearsome Beastie is an award winning picture book.  It is winner of the People’s Book Prize, shortlisted for the Rotherham Book Award, highly commended in the US Forward Literature Award and has a Bizziebaby Gold Award! It is beautifully illustrated and will cost you £5.99.

We were also sent Grandma Bendy by Izy Penguin. Grandma Bendy is a lovely story about a very bendy Grandma who leads a life of crime but in the end turns herself into a hero by helping others in need! Again the illustrations are lovely, it has big friendly writing and lots of things for Boo to point out to me as we read it together! Boo found lots of new & interesting  words to learn in this book too!

Mrs MacCready was ever so greedy is a tale of a lady who never stops eating, This is one way to stop the kids of today over-eating lol! A great rhyming story (that after a couple of reads you’ll remember the words of by heart) with lots of big colourful pictures!

All three of these books are really lovely and would make great presents for around 3-6 years. They are printed on lovely thick paper making them great quality books! Really great value for money! I would definitely recommend! 🙂
