Air Race is the latest addition to the existing line-up of exhilarating rides at the Staffordshire based attraction Drayton Manor Theme Park, including thrill-seeker favourites Maelstrom, G-Force, 54-metre tower drop, Apocalypse, and Europe’s only stand-up rollercoaster, Shockwave.
We got to visit at the weekend and check out the new ride for ourselves. Unfortunately I could not get the kids to go on it so Daddy had to stay with them and I had the pleasure of riding alone! I’m really not a big fan of spinning, upside down rides so this really wasn’t for me, I like a nice slow rollercoaster or the carousel lol The kids of today seemed to be enjoying themselves on it though and the queue was huge when we walked past in the afternoon!
Air Race will take riders on a stomach churning aerial adventure, turning their world upside down at a height of up to eight metres. Accommodating up to 24 riders at one time in six, four seater aeroplanes, ‘pilots’ will experience accelerations of almost 4G as they board the acrobatic aeroplane flight.
Riders will take their seat preparing for take-off, gliding from side to side at increasing heights whilst circling around the control tower. Before long, a series of gravity defying barrel rolls in both directions will have you soaring and diving throughout the air. With banks, loops, dives and weightlessness to test even the most experienced thrill seekers, it promises to be the flight of your life.
We absolutely love Drayton Manor, we took the kids last September and are already planning our next visit! We don’t need the big rides to keep us happy but it is great that there is something for everyone! Drayton Manor and Thomasland is a really fantastic day out! Boo absolutely loved the new ‘Milkshake Bop in the Park’ show that happens every couple of hours, she keep asking me the time because she wanted to go back and dance with them again! It really did make the day out even more special 🙂
We have always been really lucky when we have been to Drayton, gorgeous weather and not many queues; the kids (and me) went on ride after ride and obviously didn’t want to go home! They both collapsed in a big heap when we finally got them into the car and slept all the way home! Another perfect day out!
* We were provided with a family pass and preview access to Air Race.
