Choosing Glasses to Suit the Shape of your Face.

I’ve been wearing glasses for around twenty years now and I still haven’t really found a particular style that suits my face. It took me two years to choose my latest pair of glasses, I went to every optician on the high street over and over again because I just couldn’t find what I wanted. It got to the time to have my eyes tested again and I’d had the same pair for over 4 years without updating to my new prescriptions and then I found them, I loved them, I still love them and I’ve had them for 11 months now! They were much more expensive than I’d like to have paid but at the end of the day my eyes are so important to me that I will pay to take care of them.

I’ve no idea what I will do when I need a new pair, hopefully I’ll be able to get the same pair again lol! I’ve tried contacts but I just cannot get on with them. They make my eyes so dry and scratchy. I’ve tried drops, different lenses etc but I think at the end of the day I just prefer my face in glasses now. They’ve been part of me for twenty years after all and I feel rather lost without them.

SCLO have put together a guide to help you choose glasses to suit your face which is incredible handy if like me you haven’t really got a clue. I don’t even know what shape you would call my face, I guess it’s oval so that would tie in with SCLO’s findings…

If your face is longer than it is wide, and the width of your jawline draws in at your chin, you most likely have an oval-shaped head. There are commonly no major corners on an oval face shape, unlike other face structures. Oval shapes are also generally more versatile when it comes to hairstyles.

I have had glasses similar to the top and bottom ones before but I know the middle ones would not suit me in a million years but I guess that comes down to personal preference as well, some of us will go a little out of our way to look different and some of us like to just blend into the crowd. My other half is one of those people who love to buy glasses that are different, he loves to be unusual and me well I’d rather stay hidden.

My little boy Bugs chose his own glasses his year, obviously he only wanted them because they have Spider-man on the arms but I think they look gorgeous on him. He has a similar face shape to me so I usually try to steer him towards a similar shape to me. Everyone in the family wears glasses except Boo and she is desperate to wear them, she was gutted when the optician told her that her eyes were perfect! I’m sure she’ll be one of those teenage girls who has hundreds of pairs of fashion glasses 😉

So what face shape are you? Do you have a particular style of glasses that you will always go back to? if you find a pair you love do you hang on to them with dear life?

Fab tips! I find it so hard when it is time to replace mine – they become such a part of your face that all others look wrong dont they!

I saw the picture before I started reading and thought, ooh, she’s got my glasses on! So we clearly have good taste! Your little boy’s glasses look ace too, so it must be hereditary!

I have also struggled for years to find glasses that suit me. My face is very narrow and I find normal glasses are just too big…I have to buy my glasses from the teen section how embarrassing is that! I will definitely be reading this guide as I should have had my glasses changed about 2 years ago but I keep putting it off!

I used to hate buying glasses. I think that it is really hard to buy ones that suit yourself. I now take pictures of Mini in a number of frames and he chooses

I have to admit I always find buying glasses a pain – I seem to stick to the same thing as I know they work. x

I always think that I’ve found the right style for my face, then I change my hair or my clothes or have a bad face day or whatever and realise that actually I don’t like my glasses as much as I thought. Will be interested to see what the guide says and if it can make a difference!
