Playmobil Playologist Toy Reviews

playologist/ Review/ Toy Review

We were recently sent the Playmobil SWAT Command Vehicle and the Take Along Princess Birthday as part of the Playmobil Playologist programme that we have belonged to for a few years now. The kids LOVE their Playmobil so were very excited when this delivery came 🙂

SWAT Command Vehicle - £34.99

SWAT Command Vehicle – £34.99

The SWAT Command Vehicle is an awful lot of fun, Bugs has played for hours with it! I would like to see it come with another figure maybe but Bugs hasn’t minded using his other figures… he’s even had Santa driving at one point 😉 Bugs obviously loves the sirens and loves racing around the room at high speeds with it creating his own little emergencies! Such a fab toy! This does need 1 AAA battery for the lights and sirens to work. See our Video about it here…

Next up is the Playmobil Princess Take Along Princess Birthday, I really LOVE the idea of this, being able to take it with you wherever you go. Both my kids love to take toys with them when they go to friends for sleepovers so this is the perfect type of toy for that!

Take Along Princess Birthday - £49.99

Take Along Princess Birthday – £49.99

We passed this one along to my sister Dawnie to review as her little girl Z is at the perfect age for this now where as my Boo is a little bit too grown up for it. You can see what they thought of it in her video below…

We’ve loved playing with the Playmobil Take Along Princess Birthday set. The set is really convenient for taking with us on our holidays or camping as it all packs away into it’s own carry case. MissB loves all the various accessories, there are so many little details such as the queen’s fan and her jewellery. There is even water to go in the glasses, a baby swan to sit on it’s mother’s back and a ball of wool for the kitten to play with. The attention to detail is fantastic. MissB loves imaginative play and Thankfully with so many figures and items to play with in the set, it means MissB and MasterB can happily play along together.

So as you can see we love both items and are super excited for our next delivery. Make sure you check out the Playmobil website for lots more. Also sign up to the kids birthday club as my kids love getting their Playmobil birthday cards every year 😉

Review/ Toy Review

A couple of weeks ago Boo was sent this awesome Booms Bangs Fizzes Chemistry set from the Science Museum shop to review. For some of the experiments you will need a few other bits and pieces such as… vinegar, sticky tape, a soluble indigestion tablet, a 2 litre bottle, a bicycle pump etc – I expect most of the items you will have somewhere in the house. So far we have had most things we need. It does tell you at the top of each experiment what extras you need so you don’t get half way through an experiment and find you can’t finish it.

Wear goggles and stay safe!

So there are 12 fun experiments to complete, they all have simple to follow instructions and also give warnings at the top of each page to let you know if you should do this particular experiment outdoors, or wear goggles etc. There is also a ‘science bit’ for each experiment so the kids can understand what is happening with each experiment.

Film canister rocket experiment

We have had great fun with this set, Bugs aged 5 is totally obsessed by the film canister rocket experiment, I have used up loads of Alka Seltzer doing this, it is a really simple experiment where the gas build up inside the canister blows the lid off so the ‘rocket’ blasts off with a pop! It’s lot of fun! They both also love doing the fizzing potions!

We still have lots of the experiments to do but we love this kit and would definitely recommend it! It’s fun and educational! I would never leave Boo just to play with it on her own though, some of the experiments take a bit of understanding to get them to work but I love to play with things like this with her so a huge thumbs up!

Littlest Pet Shop Review

Review/ Toy Review

Boo was recently sent some of the Littlest Pet Shop toys to play with and review. She was really rather excited by this, she already has quite a few of the pets so was looking forward to getting more.

Littlest Pet Shop Goodies.

Littlest Pet Shop Goodies.

The items that she was sent (pictured above) are Blythe’s Bedroom, Spa Style Set, Playroom Style Set, Baa Baa Lou and Saskya Sayers. The playset’s all come flat packed in their boxes and all require assemble which is not too difficult. Boo (8) managed to do most of it herself, and I just helped her click a few things into place.

Saskya Sayers & Baa Baa Lou

Saskya Sayers & Baa Baa Lou

Saskya Sayers & Baa Baa Lou were sent as separate items. They both have bobble heads which are really rather cute and can be decorated with their little accessories. You can also scan your pets into the Littlest Pet Shop app (Available apple & android) now too! Just scan their little paw mark by holding up to the camera and the pet will appear in your app for 24 hours, you can then scan it again whenever you want to play with it. Boo really loved the app and is often playing on it.

Littlest Pet Shop - Blythe's Bedroom

Blythe’s Bedroom

Blythe’s bedroom is the biggest playset we were sent and the SRP is £29.99. The set comes with 95+ pieces including a Blythe doll and a pet called Penny Ling (So cute). The bedroom is very simple to put together and can be decorated to your liking. Boo loves decorating the rooms mostly. She loved decorating the window boxes and sticking the stickers on the walls inside.

We would love for Blythe to be able to stand up, she isn’t very stable. Boo finds this a bit frustrating, she also finds that when she has set everything up to how she wants it the slightest knock or opening up the bedroom front sends things falling everywhere. Despite this she continues to keep playing.

Blythe’s bedroom is stackable with the other bigger playset’s that are available, It is great that you can keep adding to it.

Littlest Pet Shop - Spa Style Set

Spa Style Set

The Spa Style Set and the Playroom Style Sets are two of the smaller rooms, these do not stack with the larger ones but they do stack on top of each of the smaller sets. They are basically the same as the bigger playset but they don’t have a front to them.  They both come with their own pets and lots of accessories.

Littlest Pet Shop - Playroom Style Set

Playroom Style Set

Boo has really enjoyed playing with all the Littlest Pet Shop toys and she has put more on her Christmas list too, so they are a big hit with her!

Boo and I made a video to show you around the Littlest Pet Shop goodies we were sent…

* We received all these toys free of charge and have been compensated for writing this post.

The plastic AmiGami monkey is rather adorable, but he is just crying out for some decorations don’t you think? Well let’s give him a makeover!!

Russell the Dream Sheepdog Review

Review/ Toy Review

Bugs was very very excited to receive the brand new Russell the dream sheepdog (launched on the 1st Sept) to review from Sweet Dreamers a few weeks ago. He has quickly become his new best friend at bedtime. Bunny and doggy have been thrown to the floor and Russell is his new bedtime pal!

Russell the Dream Sheep Dog

Russell is the new bedtime friend from the makers of Ewan the dream sheep, where as Ewan is for babies Russell has been made for toddlers. He is so gorgeous and soft and super cuddly!

Our adorable cuddly Russell® with sofly changing warm glow, gently lights up the room with a calming green and blue ‘colour therapy’ display. Russell® is a great way to help toddlers feel comforted and secure at bedtime as his enchanting ‘light show’ lulls them off to sleep. Better still Russell® has a voice recorder so parents can record themselves, songs or favourite stories for their toddler to enjoy. Cute, cuddly and comforting… Russell® is set to become a favourite at toddler’s bedtimes as he helps combat fear of the dark and eliminates bedtime battles.

Russell the Dream Sheepdog

Press his right front paw and his light comes on, this changes between blue and green and stays on for thirty minutes. Press his left front paw and whatever recording he has will play on loop for thirty two minutes.

Russell the Dream Sheepdog

You can record up to four minutes of sound be it their favourite lullaby or friendly voices. Bugs currently has me singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Baa Baa Black Sheep which he loves… I’m sick of hearing myself singing though to be quite honest lol

Russell the Dream Sheepdog

Recording sounds is very simple, you just take out the battery pack, flip the switch and play whatever music, sounds etc that you want to record, flip the switch back and when you press his paw this will then play over and over until you record over it.

Russell the Dream Sheepdog

As you can see Bugs is over the moon with his Russell, he is so in love with him.

Russell the dream sheep dog is suitable for 18 months and over and is priced at £34.99. He requires 3AAA batteries which are not included.

Mega Bloks Barbie Range

Review/ Toy Review

My Boo is a huge Barbie fan, she’s recently really got into Barbie’s Life in the Dreamhouse on Netflix so when she was sent these goodies from the new Barbie Mega Bloks range she could not have been any happier! She loves spending time building things so she was in her element here!

Photo 12-08-2014 20 30 36

Firstly she was sent Barbie’s Fab Mansion RRP £39.99 – this is a really great toy and comes with Barbie & Skipper plus lots of little pieces of furniture and five interchangeable rooms. It is recommended for ages 4+ but I think a 4 year old would struggle to build this, I am sure they would have lots of fun playing with it once built. Boo almost managed to build this all on her own and she is almost 8 now, but she needed a little help to press some pieces together as a few were quite tough!

You’re the designer with the Build ’n Play Fab Mansion by Mega Bloks Barbie™. Snappy modular rooms make it easy to build and decorate the perfect mansion for your Barbie™ and Skipper™ mini fashion figures. Design your dream house and arrange the rooms any way you want. Build the bed with beautiful canopy, put the big screen in just the right spot, and set up the perfect vanity for lots of fashion fun! When you’re done building and arranging the mansion, relax under the big umbrella on the patio, take a bubbly bath, or kick back for a super fun movie party with Barbie™ and Skipper™ mini fashion figures!

Photo 12-08-2014 20 27 09

Next up we have Chelsea’s Pool Party RRP £19.99 – the great thing about this is that you can fill the pool with water; that’s why Bugs appeared to play with this one LOL he loves anything to do with water. He loved sending Chelsea down the slide into the water! This was a little less complicated than the mansion to make so Boo was happy to complete this alone.

It’s a sun and fun celebration and you’re invited to the Build ‘n Play Chelsea™ Pool Party by Mega Bloks Barbie™! Build the perfect sunny summer day and go for a swim with the included pool floatie! Chelsea™ mini fashion figure can slide into the buildable pool that really holds water or enjoy dipping in the bubbly hot tub. When you’re done swimming, turn up the tunes on the stereo or grill up some treats on the BBQ. Before the party is over, Chelsea™ mini fashion figure can scoop up some yummy sundaes in the cool ice cream station while her two puppies enjoy their bone treat!

Photo 12-08-2014 20 27 44

Barbies’s Fairy Treehouse RRP £19.99 is Boo’s absolute favourite because she loves anything to do with fairies basically! She adores the fairy Barbie with her sparkly wings and loves that she can make her fly over the treehouse.

Create a brand new world of magic and wonder with Build ‘n Play Fairy Treehouse by Mega Bloks Barbie™! With magical sparkling and clear wings, the new Fairy Barbie™ mini fashion figure can fly through a fabulous forest and create an enchanted hideaway, deep in the woods. Place Fairy Barbie™ mini fashion figure atop her spinning platform and watch as she soars through the air! When done with flying, remove her wings and let her enjoy two levels of building fun. You can decorate the treehouse with enchanted flowers, a real working spinning platform, and beautiful butterflies!

We love these products, I know they won’t be for everyone but Boo is very girly and she loves Barbie so these are perfect for her! She does also love to play with Action Men, Hexbugs and Racing Cars so I feel I am bringing her up with a great wide range of toys. I never force pink and girly on her, it is something she chooses and I am very happy to go along with her choice.

You can find Mega Bloks on Facebook and Twitter where they are very chatty and often run giveaways, go on over and follow them if you’re not already! They make lots of fantastic toys for toddlers and children 🙂
