It’s been a while since I talked about health and fitness on the blog, to be honest until a few months ago it had taken a bit of a back seat in my life! I suffered from a very depressed spell and everything to do with looking after me got left behind.

In April I took steps to change that and changed to the Paleo lifestyle and started exercising regularly so when the lovely people from SportsShoes.com got in touch asking me if I’d like to try out some of their products I was over the moon.

I try and workout at least 5 times a week, mostly I have the weekends off but if I am awake I usually bounce out of bed and do a workout DVD while the kids eat breakfast. I have found it hard whilst having small kids at home to keep fit but with my smallest starting school this week I intend to make much more time for me and that starts with looking after my health more!

I have so much sports wear I decided I would like to get a couple of pairs of running shoes because I have taken up running again! Firstly I choose these Saucony Powergrid Kinvara 4 Women’s Running Shoes. I hadn’t heard of the brand before but that’s not really important to me as long as they fit well and are comfortable that is all that matters.

These are really really light and incredibly comfy! They also go up to a women’s size 10 too! I bought a size 9.5 and they are a perfect fit! It is so awesome to find somewhere that caters for my big feet!

I have had a trusty pair of asics for a while now and they are the best trainers I have ever owned so I couldn’t leave the website without a pair of these Asics GT-2000 women’s running shoes. Asics are amazing running shoes and I could not recommend them highly enough!

These should sell for £102.99 but they currently have 61% off making them just £39.99 which is an absolute bargain! Again I went for a size 9.5 in these and they fit lovely! They make me just want to spring and bounce around everywhere!

My Protein Review

I was sent 1kg tub of crunchy almond butter, 1 kg tub of smooth cashew butter, 460g of pure coconut oil and 100g of biltong.

All the products are fantastic, the nut butters are as good as any I have tasted if not better, I LOVE nut butters so having 2kg in the house is just amazing! I do use them in baking a lot but I love to snack on sticks of celery with nut butter on – it’s my little treat 🙂

The coconut oil is wonderful and smells divine, I use it do cook and I also use it as a cuticle oil. It can be used for lots of other things too even as a lubricant!

I had never ever tried Biltong before so I thought I would give it ago as I always find it hard to find something to snack on and I was really surprised by how much I like it to be honest! I thought I would hate it but it will definitely be on my shopping list in future!

I am really happy with the items that I have been sent, they are my paleo essentials and it pays to buy in bulk!

A Whole Year…

I did it. I can’t believe I got through a whole year without smoking!!

It’s been incredibly difficult at times and on a few drunken occasions I have been almost on the verge of buying a packet but thanks to my other half I manage to resist the urge!!

I don’t get cravings very often any more but occasionally they come back, they’re much easier to cope with nowadays.

Unfortunately I didn’t continue putting the money I would have spent on cigs to one side. I bought myself a few treats in the early days and then it just became part of the household budget.

So almost two grand!!! I think I’d be putting it towards a holiday if I had saved it. We are really ready for a holiday. I’m desperate to get the kids splashing about in the sea and playing in the sand.

I think we are going to go away to the canaries for a week in October half term, just have to wait for J to start his new job to make sure he can get the time off then.

Really looking forward to him starting his new job; he’ll be much closer to home, no three hours on the road everyday, more holidays and more money so much more family time which is really what we all need!!!

Only good things go into my body nowadays after starting the Paleo diet! Which I am still loving; lots more info on that over the coming weeks 🙂

A New Way of Living…

So the last you heard of me I wrote a list of things that I wanted to do for me, to give me a bit of time! Well I can say I actually managed to do a few of those things on my list…

  1. Paint my nails
  2. Get my legs waxed
  3. Finish reading The Husband’s Secret
  4. Get outside everyday
  5. Start reading up on the Paleo diet
  6. Listen to more music
  7. Declutter my bedroom
  8. Chuck out old clothes
  9. Buy a new outfit
  10. Meet up with a friend

I didn’t manage to get my legs waxed! Ha ha you should see them! I really must make that appointment TODAY!!

I painted my nails… I love doing my nails and I love the Sensationail kit that I use! This colour is called Bombshell Beauty and is just lovely!

The most life changing thing I did on my list was to read up on the Paleo diet. I read and read and read and I came to the conclusion that this really sounded like it was for me. So as of last Monday I started on the Paleo diet, not dieting, not watching the calories just 100% Paleo and I just love it!

The first 3-4 days I felt dreadful, I felt like I was walking round in a fog and I couldn’t remember anything, then on day 4 I walked out of it and my head has never been clearer! I’ve felt like that ever since and I just cannot believe the change in me! My energy level are through the roof and I feel amazing! Oh and 4lbs off in my first week was a little extra bonus too 😉

I just want to say a HUGE thank you to Ruth at Let Her Eat Clean at this point because she was the person that introduced me to Paleo and following her eating clean journey is just so inspiring! More recently Jane from Northern Mum has blown me away with her progress since beginning the Paleo diet. So thank you ladies for giving me the push to do this!

I feel amazing, happy and cannot wait to continue on this Paleo journey 🙂

God it’s been ages since I last posted, I am so useless at the moment. Truth is I have been in a pretty dark place for a few months now and I lost complete control of eating healthily and caring about myself! Its like a never-ending cycle when I’m like that; I feel bad so I eat, I eat then I feel worse and so on and so forth!

Last week I broke that cycle, kicked my own arse and walked back into my local Slimming World group, It was exactly what I needed, I regained control of my eating and I feel MUCH better again!

I went back for my first weigh in today and I lost an amazing FOUR pounds! I am over the moon to be back on track! My head is in the right place and I’m raring to go!

I’m hoping to get better and continue blogging here, I did think about merging this blog with This Mummy Loves… but I’ve decided not to do that because I want a place that is just for me. Somewhere I can come and have a good moan or tell you all how wonderful I am feeling etc

I really need to find time for me! Just simple things like reading a book curled up on the sofa, shaving my legs or going for a coffee. I need to become ‘me’ again – It’s been 17 years since I became a Mum and as much as I ADORE my kids I really just need a bit of time for me. In the new year I am hoping to share all of those things with you but for now I’m back on track and feeling good 🙂

Weigh in – Week 16

I didn’t record my weight last week because I maintained and was really disheartened after I had such a good week. I have lost a measly one pound this week and feel pretty low about it. I have been incredibly good, haven’t had any chocolate or alcohol and stuck to 1310 calories each day like My Fitness pal suggests.

I can’t eat any less I really can’t so I’m just going to keep going as I am for a while an see if I lose anymore… It is so disheartening when you try really hard and don’t lose much!

I have to keep telling myself I am doing incredible and am still over a stone lighter!!

Weight loss this week – 1lb
Total weight loss – 1 stone and 1lb

I’m away this weekend celebrating my other half’s 40th birthday, so there will be lots of champagne and eating out so next week I’ll be expecting a gain but it is going to be so worth it!

Aside from only losing a pound this week I feel really good about myself and that is what really matters, isn’t it!

Weigh in – Week 14

I’m super excited to have lost 3lbs this week, the 3lbs I put on whilst I took my 3 week holiday! Phew!

I dumped Weight Watchers; as the eating plan just doesn’t fit around my lifestyle, I end up eating different to everyone else in the house and it’s not good for family meals etc so I switched to counting calories through My Fitness Pal and I love it! I have had so much more variety of food and best of all it is FREE!

I’m not paying anyone to lose this weight… I’ve paid good money to put it on so it’s up to me and only me to sort it out!

My head is in a really good place! I can do this and I will do this!

Total weight lost – 1 stone!!!! Yay!
