Elf on the Shelf Time?

Christmas/ Elfie

Truth be told I got a bit fed up of Elf on the shelf last year, I got fed up with them on Instagram, on people’s blogs and most of all I got fed up of having to find a compromising position for him every single night.

So I wonder to myself whether I can actually be arsed this year or not. The kids have come to expect it really,  they have already asked when Elfie will be coming back.

For Boo it has been magical, she’s absolutely loved it, it has mainly just gone over Bugs head for the last 2 years but he is just at that age now where it will become amazing for him too so it looks like I’m stuck with bloody Elfie again this year.

Elfie usually comes around 1 December and he sits on a shelf in our living room all day everyday and then overnight he gets up to his mischievous antics and sometimes he will leave a message,  sometimes he will leave a treat, sometimes he leaves a mess and sometimes he is still sitting where he was left… (When Mummy has had too much to drink and forgot about him lol) Daddy can usually be convinced to get up early and go find somewhere to put him in those circumstances.

Elfie stays right up until 23 December,  on that night he leaves the children a letter to say is going back to the North Pole he also leaves them their Christmas Eve hamper which usually contains a pair of Christmas pyjamas each, a nice Christmas book, a Christmas mug and everything you need to make hot chocolate, a few sweeties and a Christmas DVD as well just to get them really excited and in the Christmas spirit.

It is a really really lovely experience for the kids and for that reason I am going to continue Elf on the shelf this year I may not post everyday on Instagram as I have done for the last couple of years because I think it can be quite irritating but the one thing that comes out of it all is that we are all doing it for our kids, to bring magic into their lives and make them happy and that makes me really warm and happy.

Throughout this post are a collection of our favourites Elf on the shelf situations over the last couple of years feel free to our steal ideas… we will be stealing yours! 😉

Have fun with Elf on the shelf and building up the magic for your children 🙂

Christmas Gifts from The Handpicked Collection

Christmas/ Christmas Gift Guide/ Review

I was so excited to get to choose something from the Christmas gifts range over at The Handpicked Collection. Their website is FULL of absolutely gorgeous things and it was so hard to decide but eventually I decided on this amazing Children’s Art File & Frame! If you know me then you will know I have a daughter who LOVES to draw and I am always struggling to find places to keep/display her work. This art frame is amazing…

childrensartframe

The frames displays three A4 pieces of art and you can also store lots of others behind. I would highly recommend this frame to anyone with kids, it’s a brilliant way to display their art! Boo is so proud to see her work framed and on the wall and being able to change them round really easily is a bonus!

You can buy this for just £24.95 for this triple frame or you can get a single one for £14.95 or a double for £19.95. I need one in every room now! There is no better piece of art then my kids art!

Here are a few things I will be putting on my wish list for Christmas this year…

Wonderous Ink Books Review

Christmas/ Christmas Gift Guide/ Review

The lovely people behind Wonderous Ink sent Boo & Bugs one of their beautiful personalised books each a couple of weeks a go.

Every book is hand-crafted to be unique to each child. Every letter of the child’s name makes up a part of their story.

They’ll be amazed as they enter their very own Wonderous World and discover what makes them so special.

WonderousInkBooks

We are absolutely over the moon with these books, they follow a wonderful story based on your child’s name, the letters of their name determine the story and at the end of the book if they haven’t realised this throughout the story they will do so at the end.

I love anything that builds my children up and makes them feel wonderful. So these books get a massive thumbs up from us!

Day 5 – Elfie had been up all night playing on the PS3.

Day 6 – Elfie had been busy making snowflake decorations during the night and also left the kids some chocolates too!

Day 7 – We put our tree up yesterday so obviously Elfie had to climb it and sit at the top 😉

Bugs’s Top 5 Gifts for Christmas…

Christmas/ Featured/ TML... Shopping/ Toddlers

I couldn’t resist putting together a list of Top 5 gifts for my kids this year! I haven’t done the Christmas Gift section this year on my blog as I haven’t had time so this is my mini version! Bugs will be 2.5 at Christmas.

My top toy for Bugs this year is a Mini Micro Scooter with seat & O-bar handle £74.99

Next up are these gorgeous first Mickey Mouse books from the Book people for just £9.60! He will LOVE these!

He adores Jake & The Neverland Pirates – it’s stopped playing on CITV in a morning so I’ve got him his very own DVD 🙂

I always adored my babies in all in one babygro’s so I’m trying to keep him a baby a little bit longer by buying him this red striped all in one from Debenhams.

He’ll also be getting his very own Leaptop as he loves to play with Boo’s which is a more advanced version!

To be honest I have found it really hard to buy for him this year as he has so much passed down to him from Boo; so he won’t be having an awful lot more than this – just a few stocking fillers! I don’t think he’ll be disappointed; do you?
