Today’s prompt for Blogtober is Ditty as it is #Nationalpoetryday. I’ve been sat here for a good half an hour and nothing is coming to me at all so I thought I would share the poem that my Boo wrote for my birthday this year. It was a totally unexpected surprise when she handed me this big piece of card with a poem on and lots of lovely doodles.
This is what she wrote…
A Poem About You
Dear Mum
Words cannot describe how amazing you are
But I’ve written a poem
To describe your superstar.
Everything about you is beautiful
Your face, your personality
Even when your grumpy
I still love you completely
Your jokes may not always be funny
But inside I’m grinning greatly
And when you threaten daddy
You go from heartly to deathly
I love you so much
And I wouldn’t change you for the world
Thank you for being the best mum ever
And supporting me through everything!
Love from Boo xxx
I’m not sure about the part about threatening daddy (as if I would ever do such a thing) but I love that my gorgeous 11 year old sat down of her own accord and wrote this about me. She’s a wonderful girl and I adore her. It means so much more when they make an effort with gifts doesn’t it. She could have just gone out and bought a cheap box of chocolates but knowing that she took the time to write about how much I mean to her is just far better than any gift she could give. I feel so lucky to have been blessed with three amazing children 🙂
