Good morning everyone. Today’s prompt for #Blogtober18 is Boobs specifically relating to #BreastCancerAwareness so if you came along expecting to see my boobs you are going to be sorely disappointed but I’m going to be sharing lots of useful information about Breast Cancer Awareness and what you can do to help. Did you know that Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women in the UK, with 1 in 8 women being diagnosed in their lifetime?!
First of all I want to share this document about taking care of your breasts from Breast Cancer Care because it is so important to look after your boobs, know them and be able to recognise changes in them. So make sure you download it, read it, read it again and then share it far and wide with all of your girlfriends and not to forget those men folk as well because they have been known to spot symptoms too! Make sure you check out the get involved section of the Breast Cancer Care website to find out how you can get involved with ideas from charity runs to afternoon teas.
Breast Cancer Care also have a shop where you can purchase items and all the proceeds are spent on their work for people affected by breast cancer today. There are some really lovely items, I’ve just noticed some gorgeous Christmas cards which I will be purchasing this year. There are also products out on the high street in Asda, Dorothy Perkins, QVC and others which are selling items with a donation going to Breast Cancer charities.
Breast Cancer Care are looking for people to host a Big Pink party on the 12th of October, you can download a free kit to help you with your planning over on the website. It sound like a really good excuse for a girls night in to me 😉
Also Breast Cancer Now hold a Wear it Pink day on the 19th of October. Basically all you need to do it wear pink and raise money. It could be alone, at work, at school, hosting a party. Head over and have a read and there are so many resources that will help your fundraising efforts.
That’s it from me today I’m going to go and decide what I’m going to be doing to help #BreastCancerAwareness this month and please please please this October make sure you spread awareness, take part in fundraising and donate if you can and don’t forget to check your boobs! 🙂
* The two charities I have talked about above are Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now. Visit them to find out more about their work and how you can help or how they can help you 🙂
