#Blogtober18 Day 13 – Movies you Have Watched a 1000 Times

Blogtober18

During October I am taking part in #Blogtober18, where I write a blog post everyday for the whole month. Mandi over at Big Family Organised Chaos is hosting a linky each day where she also gives a prompt for us to write about. Today’s prompt is ‘movies you have watched a thousand times’ so I’ll be sharing all of the films that I can remember that I’ve watched over and over again and probably still could.

As a child the films that I remember watching were Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Goonies, then as I got a bit older I loved the Gremlins!

As a teenager I was obsessed with Jean Claude Van Damme and I would watch his films over and over again. Especially Kickboxer, AWOL and Bloodsport. I was totally addicted to him. I think it was one of my friends who introduced me to one of his films… then I was hooked. I literally went out and bought every single one of his films. My bedroom was like a shrine to him. It’s odd because I’m really not into muscular men at all! I think it was possible desire to be a kick boxer… I wish I had started that when I was younger!

In my late teens I was in love with films like Dirty Dancing, An Officer and a Gentlemen, Ghost and Pretty Woman. I loved anything a bit romantical and adored Richard Gere and Patrick Swayze (who didn’t?).

And then I had kids and that was the start of watching whatever they wanted 😉 when Liam was little he would watch The Jungle Book nearly every day and Bugs was the same with all of the Toy Story films. I don’t really remember Boo being obsessed with any films apart from now she will watch the Harry Potter collection over and over.

Now that the kids are older I have found that I can start enjoying a bit of my own time again and can actually sit down on a Friday evening and watch a film. Films we love to watch together as a couple and can watch over and over again are Shawshank Redemption, Love Actually, The Holiday, It’s a Wonderful Life, Driving Miss Daisy, All the Harry Potter films, Braveheart, The Gladiator, The Green Mile, American Beauty… These are all amazing films that you can just watch again and again.

One of my guilty pleasures is watching the Twilight films. James can’t stand them he thinks they are absolute garbage but I really can’t get enough… I can’t wait to introduce Boo to them 🙂

What about you? What are your favourite films?

Ah yes, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, I remember when that was on every Christmas time. I did love the old movies, I remember being a fan of Deanna Durbin when I was little, or I’d watch anything with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. I loved musicals. I also had a huge crush on Jean Claude Van Damme, but I was already married by then so the posters where a no no, lol. The kids do influence your viewing, I remember a stage of High School Musical, I think I must have seen all three of them films over and over. It was lovely to see a more grown up Troy (Zac Efron) back singing and dancing. (Although I believe I read somewhere that he didn’t actually do the singing in HSM as he wasn’t good enough!)
I think I could talk all day about films.
