During October I am taking part in #Blogtober18, where I write a blog post everyday for the whole month. Mandi over at Big Family Organised Chaos is hosting a linky each day where she also gives a prompt for us to write about. Today’s prompt is ‘kickass girls you adore’ for #internationaldayofthegirl.
Girls are awesome! Every single one of you! I have upmost respect for all of you… but today there is only one girl that I really want to talk about. The most kickass girl of all… My Boo!
She turns 12 next week and this year she started secondary school and has really grown up. To be honest I worry like hell about the world she is living in nowadays and I am trying to protect her from it constantly. I feel like I want to keep her indoors for the next 5 years but I know that she needs to get out there and have her own experiences. I can’t protect her for her whole life… I wish I could! So today on #internationdayofthegirl I thought I would share my wish for her.
My Wish for you…
My wish for you is happiness and true joy.
That you’ll see yourself as others do and not behind a cloud of self hatred.
That you’ll do you best in life no matter what.
That you’ll spread a little kindness wherever you go.
That you’ll be treated equally and fairly.
That you’ll be strong enough to avoid getting treated badly.
That you’ll never settle for someone who treats you less than they should.
That you’ll always do your best to be a good friend.
That you’ll believe in yourself because when you believe in yourself wonderful things can happen.
That you’ll continue to want to be the best that you can be.
That you’ll always use your voice.
That you’ll always stand up for those who need it.
That you’ll say yes to life and live it to the absolute fullest.
That you’ll travel as much as you can and experience lots of different cultures.
That you’ll continue to love books.
That you’ll continue to love running and if you’re feeling bad go for a run!
That you will always remember that you are loved more than you will ever know.
That you’ll have a healthy long life enriched with wonderful experiences and people.
That you’ll always know that we are here for you, no matter what time it is or what you’ve done.
I adore you Boo! Always know that I have tried my hardest and done my absolute best to be the best mum that I could be 🙂

Oh this is so lovely! I am sure you are an amazing mum. I really like the idea of Blogtober but I am also not sure if I could do it for a whole month. Hope it goes well x
OMG where does the time go?! She’s so grown up.
Happy birthday to you, Boo. x
The world we live in now is scary but as you said, our children need to make their own experiences.
What a great post. Our eldest grandson is 11 and started secondary school this year and I can’t believe how quickly he’s growing up
This is so awesome! Like you, I wish I could protect my boys from this ever increasing world of hatred and nastiness but there are good things about this world too and I want my boys to experience that. I wrote something similar for my boys a couple years ago and every now and then I revisit it and read it to them. I might do that today:)
Absolutely lovely! Equally like you i am worried about my son going to secondary school, he’s still my baby but he cant wait!
Aw this is so lovely! It is definitely a different world to the one we grew up in, but I think kids today are also a lot wiser in many ways, they grow up much more quickly which is a good and a bad thing!

It is worrying that our kids are growing up in the world now. If I had my way I wouldn’t let my girls out of my sight but that isn’t practical.
Such a lovely post. I do hope Boo does all that you wish for. x
Aww love this!! This will be lovely for her to look back on in years to come too;)
brilliant aspirations for your girl Boo – I am sure she will fulfil them and have great adventures…
Love Bec 🙂
Ah that’s lovely. I’ve got two boys but get how you’d want to keep girls away from harm but have to let them grow.
