10 ways to P*ss me off on Twitter

10 ways to...

Here are ten sure fire ways to p*ss me off a little on twitter ;O)

Please note some of these are more serious than others – please don’t take offense  if you have been guilty of one or all of these; I think we all have at some point! But please take note – I do see a lot of people complaing about these all the time ;O)

  1. Send me an auto DM when I follow you – most of the time I will auto unfollow you for that 😉
  2. Retweet your #FF’s – this is incredibly big-headed! ;O)
  3. Replying to ALL when you thank someone!
  4. Continue to mention me in a conversation for weeks when I didn’t want to be in it in the first place!
  5. Retweeting my competition entries! I like a good comp, if you follow me you’ll know that 😉 If you retweet my entries though you won’t be entered as it is me who sees the retweet not the company that runs the comp 😉
  6. Businesses that don’t interact with their followers!
  7. Businesses that just retweet their “praise” all day long!
  8. Choosing me as the winner of your comp just so I’ll write you a review… I won’t 😉
  9. Tweet me to ask me to retweet something! NO!!!! I hate being told what to do!!
  10. Constantly tweet companies asking for something to review! Please ffs find an email address and send a press pack!

I have more I think but I’ll stick with these 10 – OK! so now tell me yours…

I'm a recent twitter convert and already find these things annoying.

Hoping to avoid all the business annoyance things though as don't want to piss people off, especially if it'd annoy me!

Yip I'm with you on all of these, although I do retweet comps I do it so others will enter, but thinking about it, it's their loss t it. More people in comp more likelihood I won't win 😉

The thing that really get's me is the companies and celebrities either just retweeting stuff or not responding, Jamie Oliver is a prime example. I was only praising one if his dishes. Unfollow!

My other one that I will add is people not thinking about retweets. If you say something that you want people to retweet (of their own accord of course) then including your handle & RT it should be 140 characters or less. If I want to retweet something & it's too long, I now don't bother!

auto DM's are definitely top of my list. They are such a let down after the ecitement of a DM!

I'm going to add to this and say people who RT entries to the competition on their blog. Why? There is no point to this! I just don't get it and it's annoying if there are lots of entries. I don't see the entries and I don't particularly like tweet entries as it is – why would I want them RTd into my timeline from all over the shop?

I agree, RT #FF drives me mad. And the Auto Dm's grrr. I could have written this list. xx

Great post! I also hate when companies don't interact. It's just plain rude. If I tweet a question or a comment, a response would be nice!

Couldn't agree more, I do however retweet praise, every single one, I get too excited I'm afraid. Number 10 gets me angry though, twitter is great but highly unprofessional doing that when everyone can see! Bring on the facebook version!

I hate the retweeting of #ff – drives me insane!!!!

  • Reply soosieboo March 15, 2012 at 11:39 am

Couldn't agree more..most of them get on my wick. Especially the one where they retweet people saying 'I love your site / product / I buy it all the time / I've followed you for ages..
Oh and peeps that send the about tweets in the hope the company will pick them to win.. brown noses… ARGH…

Crikey yes, all of those annoy me – don't think I'm guilty, not as yet anyway (fingers crossed)

My own pet hate is bloggers who follow you and then instead of just tweeting their blogs, they tweet you directly asking you not only to read, but to RT too.

They then go on to fill your timeline with replica Tweets to as many people who follow you both as they have time to Tweet until you get so fed up you sign off for a while just so it clears out of their system.

I don't like being tweeted with news about being included in a round-up, then discovering that I haven't, in fact, been included. It makes me feel used to discover that the mention was just a way of trying to get an RT.

    guilty as charged! lol

Ohhh brilliant Can I add one to your list … Certain bloggers / or companies that just sit in their own little cliques and never interact with anyone else. Those that thrive on their own self importance….. oooh gsosh I sound mean… don't I !

He he, hello fab lady glad to get that of your chest I bet. x
I know I am guilty of a few of those, so I promise to try and kerb them lol xxxx

  • Reply Actually Mummy March 14, 2012 at 3:52 pm

And to add to number 1, dont auto DM me asking me to do something unless you are following me too – the number of times I have tried to reply to a DM only to find I can't because the person who DM'd me isn't following me!!!!

  • Reply emma March 14, 2012 at 3:37 pm

great post, i so agree with your 10

  • Reply Carolin @ Mummy Alarm March 14, 2012 at 3:14 pm

I've experienced number 8 recently and could not believe how cheeky some people are. Why would I review something I won? Ok, if I found it exceptionally great I might do, but not if you ask me to do so in the email that informs me that I am a winner…

  • Reply ChelseaMamma March 14, 2012 at 3:11 pm

Ha ha – I agree with all of those!!
Can I also add asking to be followed (normally "I've just followed you can you follow back") – erm No! Engage in conversation like a normal human being and I'll think about it!

  • Reply Emily March 14, 2012 at 3:06 pm

Ha ha! I am quite annoying on twitter but I don't think I do most of those… number 1 is my biggest gripe! I get really excited if I see I've got a DM… to read a automated message just makes me mad!!
