Wonder DVD Review & Giveaway

giveaway/ Review

Boo and I recently read Wonder and we fell in love with it, just like many other people I know have. We all warmed to Auggie and he quickly became very special to us! So we were over the moon to get to watch the film before it was released on DVD.

Wonder follows the story of Auggie and his first year at school, having been homeschooled by his mum because of his ‘facial differences’ his parents finally feel he is ready to start the fifth grade.

In the book his dad describes sending him to school as “sending a lamb to the slaughter” but what follows is an amazing uplifting story of kindness and friendship. Everyone should read the book and watch the film.

Wonder is released on DVD today (26th March 2018) so make sure you pick up a copy or see below to enter our giveaway 🙂

Wonder is an incredible film, we all loved it and would highly recommend that everyone watch it but I would suggest you read the book first, having said that my two sons (one is 21 and one is 7) both watched the film without reading the book and both absolutely loved it. Both totally smitten with Auggie  🙂

The heart-warming story of one young boy’s inspiring bravery and courage arrives on home screens when WONDER hits Digital Download4K UHD,Blu-ray and DVD from 26th March, 2018, courtesy of Lionsgate Home Entertainment UK.

Based on the New York Times bestseller by R.J. Palacio, the Academy Award®* and BAFTA** nominated WONDER tells the inspiring and heart-warming story of August “Auggie” Pullman. Born with facial differences that, up until now, have prevented him from going to a mainstream school, Auggie becomes the most unlikely of heroes when he enters the fifth grade at his local school. As his family, new classmates, and the larger community all struggle to find their compassion and acceptance, Auggie’s extraordinary journey will unite them all and prove you can’t blend in when you were born to stand out.

Outstanding young actor Jacob Tremblay (Room, The Book of Henry) superbly anchors an A-list cast that boasts Academy Award® winner Julia Roberts (Eat Pray Love, Erin Brockovich) and Owen Wilson (Midnight in Paris, The Royal Tenenbaums), under the direction of Stephen Chbosky (The Perks of Being a WallflowerBeauty and the Beast).

With enough charm and warmth to melt even the stoniest of hearts, Auggie’s uplifting and life-affirming story of tolerance, friendship and togetherness is one for all the family to enjoy over the Easter holidays. Featuring a host of exclusive extra content, WONDER is this year’s stand-out family film release, and a classic in the making.

You can’t blend in when you were born to stand out!

Being 7 months pregnant, travelling the rush hour tube is increasingly uncomfortable. I am always grateful to the strangers who offer me their seat – I wholly believe in good deeds being passed on and will always help others when I can. I like to think the seat givers are my kindness being paid back! Can’t wait to see the film. I loved this book (and so did so many of the children in my class!)

Other than normal courtesy I can’t recall and acts of kindness towards me, but on a trip to London last week as a belated Mother’s Day treat for my mother, on two separate occasions people gave up their seats on busy Tube trains so that she could have a seat.

To be honest I haven’t seen or been on the receiving end of any kindness for quiet some months now. Unfortunately I’ve been on the end of a couple of people’s spiteful behaviour & so have shut myself away it’s safer!
