It terrifies me to think that our house could get burgled so I wanted to share with you this infographic that Barclays have put together about Protecting your home, if it helps just one of my readers then I am happy
Mostly it is just common sense but there are some great tips on making your home burglar proof, the harder it is for someone to get in the better in my opinion. At the end of the day though if someone wants to break into your house nothing will stop them… Just look at Home Alone!! The Wet Bandits were determined they were going to burglar Kevin’s house 😉
One of the scariest things for me is that of the top 5 items that are stolen, mobile phones and laptops are the top two… these two things contain my whole life and I just have no idea what I would do if they were stolen! I take both of them upstairs with me at night to give them the best chance of staying with me!
I don’t really have many possessions that I care a great deal and if someone wanted to break into my house they’d have a hard job of finding anything valuable but it’s about the intrusion of my home and putting my family at risk that matters more to me. Everything else can be replaced and I have good contents insurance so that they can be in those circumstances.
I think back to when we were kids, our home never used to be locked and if it was we always left the key on the wall under a stone… although we did have a German Shepard that would have your leg off if you tried to get in so perhaps we didn’t need too worry so much 😉
Is your home protected? Have you any tips on how you do this? Have you considered CCTV?
