How I Lost Over 4 Stone This Year

personal

This time last year I was in a terrible place, I had an awful year and managed to comfort eat my way to almost 18 stone! I was feeling so bad about myself but I found a strength inside me like never before.

I was going to change my life!
I was going to get fit!
I was going to look great again!
I was going to be healthy!

Of course I’ve thought all these things before and I’ve successfully lost weight a couple of times before with Slimming World but I knew if I went back to Slimming World I would just put it all back on again because once I get to target I stop going to class! With Slimming World I find I can eat so much food on plan that I am always hungry so I don’t think it is for me. I don’t think we should be able to eat so much!

This time I wanted to lose weight, change my lifestyle and keep it off!

Well here I am a whole year later and I have lost a total of 4 stone 9lbs and I am feeling amazing!

So just how did I go about doing it?

First of all I will say it hasn’t been a breeze I have worked so hard to get where I am today, I’m not quite where I want to be but I only want to lose another half a stone to get inside my healthy weight range and then I’ll be trying to maintain.

The most important tools in my weight loss have been my Apple Watch and My Fitness Pal app on my iPhone, using those I have managed to understand just how many calories I can eat everyday, how many calories I burn everyday and along as I am burning more than I am eating then I am in a good place.

I haven’t followed any special diet plans just continued eating as I normally do but just counted my calories and tracked them using My Fitness pal. My Fitness Pal is an amazing app which once you have entered your weight and height details will tell you how many calories you should be eating to loose with 2lb per week, 1lb per week, also to maintain and gain weight. It also takes your exercise calories into account if you link it to a fitness tracker. It’s brilliant!

Apple Watch Move Medals

My monthly medals

Each day I try and walk at least 10Km and now I have started to get back into running too, I love setting myself little goals on my Apple Watch and love getting my medals each day, each month and just last week I was rewarded with my 365 medal which means I completed my move goal 365 times!

So life is good, I am fitter than ever before and happier than ever before too! I can’t wait to continue on my fitness journey. My next goal is to run a half marathon before I turn 40 in September next year, this is a massive challenge as I can barely run 2KM without dying at the moment but I will get there!

A year ago today seemed impossible…Β but nothing is impossible! I’m not hiding myself away anymore I’m out there enjoying my life πŸ™‚

    WOW!
    1) You do not look like you are going to be 40 next year and 2) You are nothing short of inspirational. What an incredible achievement, congrats on flexing your willpower muscles πŸ˜€ xx

Well done you. I’ve tried virtually every diet under the sun, but what works for me is more exercise, less bread and not falling face first into a trifle every night. I love my fitbit and never take a step without it!

You are all kinds of AWESOME – I really hope at the end of this year I can write something similar. I need to get something to track how far I walk, I would be surprised if I even do 1k at the moment.

Thanks for the tips and here is to 2017 xx

What an incredible job you’ve done. I’m basically where you were when you started; I’ve got at least 4.5st to lose and I’m feeling incredibly daunted by the prospect, so it’s really good to see that it can be done. Congratulations!

this is brilliant! Well done to you! I realised at the beginning of the year that i had put on lots of weight but with my arthritis and back pain, proper excercise is out of the question – even things like swimming which are supposed to be good for arthritis can cause more problems for me so i realised it would be my diet that had to change so i largely cut out most refined sugar and cut out most gluten and i’ve lost about a stone – although i’m dreading what will happen over the festive period! Thankfully most the time i’m just eating plenty of nutritious healthy food and sugary stuff just tastes too sweet for me now and i just need to remember to keep doing that. all the best for 2017! xxx
