I can’t believe it was September when I last did this feature on the blog. I think I was so busy getting sorted for Christmas and doing Christmas Gift Guides that I forgot about this. I’ve always loved doing this though as I get to tell you about some fab products that we’ve been sent and also what I’ve been watching/reading for the last month or so. I’ve got quite a lot to tell you this month so grab yourself a cuppa and have a read 😉
Some of you may remember I used to run a feature called ‘My Inner Girl’s Picks’ that came over to This Mummy Loves when I combined my other blog ‘Finding my Inner Girl’ with it. I used to love that blog but just didn’t have the time for it and so ‘My Inner Girl’s Picks‘ moved over here, I’ve not done that feature since last August now but I really used to love it so I’m going to continue it but so it fits more with this blog now. Welcome to September’s issue of This Mummy Loves… Here you will find some awesome products that we have been sent to review, ones we have bought ourselves, films we’ve watched, books we’ve read etc. Anything really that we think is worth of a mention 🙂

Here are some products that we have loved this month…
I am a massive Yankee Candle fan and I think this Lake Sunset jar is my absolute favourite so far! It is currently fragrance of the month so you can get a whopping 25% off making this large jar an absolute bargain at £16.49 instead of £21.99! I’ve ordered myself some smaller jars and the tea-lights too with my birthday money as I don’t ever want to stop smelling this one!
The lovely people at Elastoplast sent me one of their vintage tins along with some of their plasters. I love having this tin in my handbag full of plasters ready for one of the kids when they take a tumble, it is so handy. Of course Bugs absolutely loves the Cars plasters and finds any little excuse to have a plaster on now 😉
I bought this gorgeous INDIKIDUAL Raglan Eyes Top from the lovely Jenny at Kyna Boutique a few weeks ago and I am so happy with it, I’ve bought INDIKIDUAL leggings before but never had any tops and this is just lovely; Bugs looks adorable in it. I haven’t yet got round to taking a photo of him in it but wanted to share it with you and the fact that Jenny is always so lovely & helpful and I could not recommend Kyna Boutique highly enough!
My other half bought me a Mophie Juice Pack Air for my iPhone 5s on my birthday as I was always moaning about my battery running out. I totally LOVE my Mophie, it gives me an extra 80% charge so I don’t have to worry about running out of battery anymore 🙂
I was rather spoilt for my birthday this year as my other half also bought me this gorgeous Apple Watch which I am totally in love with. It’s amazing to have a watch, I’ve not had one for years and was always digging around in my handbag for the time but now I don’t have to; I have the time, my texts, Twitter, Instagram, calls, emails and everything else I might need right there on my wrist!!! I’m going to treat myself to a gorgeous new strap soon too! Such a lucky girl 😉
Lero bought me this Secret Garden colouring book for my birthday and I have just loved spending time colouring it in. It really does calm and relax me, it takes me ages though but I really love doing it.
What I’ve Been Watching
I noticed that The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button had a good score on IMDB so not knowing anything about it me and my other half settled down to watch it. OMG we sobbed and sobbed. It is a truly wonderful film but it totally ripped my heart out! Watch it if you haven’t already!
We also watched The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 because I noticed they were both on Netflix and we hadn’t already watched them. While I wouldn’t say they were amazing I did really enjoy watching them and am now eager for last film to come out.
My Netflix addiction this month has been Merlin, at every single opportunity I have watch an episode and ashamed to say I have watched the whole 5 series in a rather small amount of time! Now I’m at a loss and have no idea what to watch so if you have any recommendations please leave me a comment 🙂
What I’ve Been Reading
I read Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger while I was on holiday, I did love the idea of the story, it’s a really easy read and it kept me wanting to keep reading but I found it pretty disappointing overall. I have just started The Sunrise by Victoria Hislop which is our book club book this month, it’s not something I would normally pick up but so far so good! I’ll let you know how I get on with that one next month and if you have any recommendations again please leave me a comment 🙂 I’m not doing that well with my 52 books challenge but far better than the grand total of 2 I read last year 😉
Well that’s all for this month, don’t forget to contact me soon if you have a product that you would like to see in my October or Christmas edition!

Here are some products that we have loved this month…
Luggo Monster Suitcase
The lovely people from Prezzybox.com sent us this awesome monster suitcase! It is absolutely brilliant. It’s plastic hard shell makes it perfect for kids as it is sturdy and also can be wiped clean. It has a handy handle so can be pulled around or straps on the back so can be carried around like a rucksack. It would be perfect for sleepovers or for short trips. What Bugs loves most about it is the flashing wheels when pulled along! 🙂 A brilliant product that I would highly recommend. You can purchase on Prezzybox for £28.95 or if monsters aren’t your thing, check out the ladybird suitcase instead 🙂
The Collective – Suckies
Gourmet yoghurt brand The Collective have created Suckies, a kids’ range of portable yoghurt pouches, which are designed to be enjoyed at home, in the lunchbox or on-the-go and they sent a few for Boo and Bugs to try. They definitely get the thumbs up from us, Boo loves it when I have put them in the freezer overnight and then put one in her packed lunch, by the time she has come to eat it at lunchtime it has defrosted and kept her lunch cool too!
The UK’s first ever branded fresh yoghurt pouch, Suckies are available in three delicious flavours: Sassy Strawberry,Peach & Apricot and Blueberry. They provide parents with the most convenient form of family snacking through a design that allows them to be eaten spoon-free, for minimum mess. Mums and Dads love them for helping to cut out this hassle as well as for their quality ingredients, and kids love them for their amazing taste!
The Collective’s kids range is created for children over six months of age and each one is packed full of whole milk goodness and only contains sugars found naturally in fruit. Suckies are free from GM ingredients, gluten, artificial colours, flavours, preservatives, and are suitable for vegetarians, with no pips and bits allowed! Suckies can be frozen at home and popped into lunchboxes so by lunchtime they’re nice and cool – ideal for eating anywhere, anytime.
Suckies Pouches are sold individually at just 79p per 100g pouch, and should be kept chilled. The range is available at Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Ocado, Booths, Nisa, and Whole Foods.
Lizi’s Gluten Free Granola
Lizi’s, is delighted to announce it’s adding a Gluten Free version of its popular and incredibly good for you, tasty Original granola!
So if you’re in the 1% of the UK that suffer from coeliac disease, are gluten intolerant or are simply living a gluten free lifestyle, then now you can enjoy a perfectly formed breakfast that tastes so good.
Lizi’s is the only cereal where the Glycaemic Load (GL) of a serving is measured – so you are assured of a healthy, high-fibre breakfast with slow energy release.
This means a gradual release of good carbs to maintain healthy blood sugar levels to keep you fuller for longer, stopping the urge for a quick ‘sugar fix’.
With Gluten Free, the oats have been carefully sourced to ensure they are uncontaminated from other crops – making it a delicious alternative for those looking for a perfect bowl of gluten free granola – just add milk or a dollop of yoghurt and top with a serving of fresh fruit!
We can confirm it is delicious, the kids have been enjoying it for breakfast with natural yogurt and a squirt of maple syrup! Yum! You can buy it now in Asda and Sainsbury’s 🙂
Nurture is a delicious, all-natural children’s drink designed with little ones’ health in mind. Enriched with vitamins and minerals proven to support healthy immunity* – and with no added sugar in sight – this half juice, half water miracle concoction offers the perfect way to keep youngsters happy, healthy and full of beans. Boasting the optimum daily amount of vitamins for 1-6 year-olds, including zinc, B vitamins and beta-glucans*, just one serving a day could really help to fill nutritional gaps for fussy eaters – making parents’ lives easier at the same time.
You can choose from Strawberry & Cherry and Orange & Pineapple , they are available for £1.99 per 4 pack which I don’t think is too expensive. The kids love them and I would happily buy these for packed lunches and picnics. It’s very reassuring to know they have lots of vitamins in and have no added sugar.
Special K are launching an amazing new range of products this summer and I have been lucky enough to get to try them all. You can now find all the products in all major supermarkets from just £1.99!
My favourite of them all has to be the super porridges, they are absolutely gorgeous and I will definitely be buying more when I have finished these off!
All these products are part of their ‘Live in Colour’ campaign which encourages women to live a life full of variety, choice and fun. You can read more about that over on the website.

Check out HAMMAMAS the clever cotton towel! They are super soft, super absorbent and come in an amazing range of colours and sizes! Brilliant for taking on holiday as they take up a lot less room in your suitcase than an ordinary beach towel and they can double up as a sarong, picnic blankets, rug, table-cloth and more! Not only are they super absorbent but they also dry super quick too and come in a fab little wet bag! They are really soft and get even softer the more you wash them!
We work closely with traditional weavers in rural Turkey to produce our Hammamas in the same way the towels have been created for generations. We source only local Turkish cotton as it’s the best quality money can buy. The combination of premium quality cotton and traditional weaves and techniques create a product that is of the highest quality, that’s soft, absorbent and lasts.
Head over and check out the website, this is one product that I think is genius!
Horrid Henry’s Big Box of Pranks
Fans of the hugely popular Horrid Henry books and BAFTA nominated TV series, will be thrilled to hear that a delightfully horrid new app, Horrid Henry’s Big Box of Pranks, will be released by P2 Entertainment this summer. Launching on July 2nd, the app will be available on iOS and Android devices for £2.99.
Big Box of Pranks is a collection of fun, fast and funny action-packed mini-games based on Henry’s love for all things mischievous! Featuring all the popular characters, theme music and SFX from the Horrid Henry TV series, players will be able to delve into Henry’s box of playful pranks for the ultimate prankster contest.
On entering the app, fans will first face ten prank challenges, which they must play as quickly as possible before they run out of lives. The difficulty level increases as the pranks progress and the action becomes more and more frantic as players must attempt to beat their own high score and to earn Prank Awards that unlock 5 additional new mini-games.
While the app is ideal for kids aged 5-12 years old it’s also great to play with family and friends as you compete to beat the highest score and ultimately be crowned ‘Lord High Excellent Majesty of Pranks’!
My Messy Adventure
For the first time ever, some of the best loved – and most feared – heroes and villains of Roald Dahl’s stories have been brought together in a brand new interactive adventure story, as part of a marvellously messy and ground-breaking partnership between Persil, the Roald Dahl Literary Estate and Quentin Blake.
The ‘My Messy Adventure’ story enables every child (and big kids!) to be the hero of their very own Roald Dahl story, where they will get to meet The Witches, Matilda or James (James and the Giant Peach) along the way. Free to play at www.persil.co.uk/Roald-Dahl, the story will encourage families to get outside and go exploring this summer.
The ‘My Messy Adventure’ story can be accessed on a smartphone or tablet, and is totally interactive and enriched by the outside world. This innovative new format allows children to enjoy Roald Dahl’s amazing stories and Quentin Blake’s iconic imagery in a way they have never experienced them before. The child will even feature in the story as a customisable Roald Dahl-themed avatar featuring completely new Quentin Blake illustrations for a fully personalised experience.
The adventure aims to encourage children and parents to embrace the power of technology to learn and experience the great outdoors on their doorstep. Ultimately the kids are in control as they are challenged by the characters they meet to complete messy challenges and tasks, such as hunting bugs or collecting dry leaves. The path they take will determine their unique and personal journey, culminating in a ‘digital scrapbook’ to showcase their exciting adventure. With several characters to choose from, the story guarantees hours of fun during the summer holidays.
What I’ve Been Watching
I was rather excited to get a notification from Netflix a couple of weeks ago to tell me that The Original season 2 was now available to watch!!!! I love love love The Vampire Diaries and The Originals and have already watched season 2! I loved it and am really hoping that there will be a season 3!
What I’ve Been Reading
Hmmm yeh no comment 😉
I’ve been useless at picking up books this month, I have only read a couple of chapters of Grey so far so can’t really tell you what it’s like, I hope to have more reads to share with you next month 🙂
Well that’s all for this month, don’t forget to contact me soon if you have a product that you would like to see in September’s edition!

Here are some products that we have loved this month…
I am a HUGE fan of Yankee Candle so was over the moon to be sent this GORGEOUS large Sunflower jar! It’s making a special appearance on the Yankee Candle website which means it won’t be around for long so snap it up while you can. I just LOVE it, Sunflowers are my favourite flower, it such a pretty jar I can’t help but smile when I look at it 🙂 Other special appearances this month are Lavender Vanilla and Cotton Candy. I love the sound of Cotton Candy so have added that to my birthday wishlist *hint hint* 😉
lights by TENA
lights by TENA created me my very own SOS kit last month, full of things that will help me get through each day! The chocolate flake tea is amazing and I cannot live a day without using dry shampoo!
I love the SOS shopping bag and they also make me my very own apron…
Love my apron so much, I’ve never had an apron before but use this every time I am cooking now. I always used to make such a mess so this just saves my clothes. A huge thanks to lights by Tena for my awesome SOS kit 🙂
I’ve been sent this Krill Oil supplement to try. I really suffer with pre-menstrual symptoms so I am always willing to give things a go if there is a chance they will alleviate my symptoms.
Cleanmarine Krill Oil for Women is a new omega 3 oil supplement that can help women with PMS to simply and naturally, reduce the severity of their monthly symptoms.
How can Cleanmarine Krill Oil help alleviate the symptoms of PMS?
Krill oil provides two omega-3 essential fatty acids, (EPA eicosapentaenoic acid and DHA docosahexaenoic acid). High levels of these omega-3 fatty acids can help the body to regulate hormonal imbalances and can effectively ‘switch off’ premenstrual pain, inflammation, bloating, breast pain, headaches, anxiety, nervousness, depression and cravings
I will be taking them for the next month so make sure you visit August’s post to see how I get on with them. I have my fingers firmly crossed 😉
I had a Costa date with my oldest yesterday and we tried our their new Summer menu! Lero had a watermelon and strawberry cooler and I had a Belgian chocolate creamy cooler! They were absolutely gorgeous and very refreshing… perfect for the current heatwave we are having!
I never try new things usually when I go to Costa, I always have a Latte but I’m really pleased that I tried something different. Next time I go I’m going to give the blackberry & raspberry fruit cooler a try! It sounds delicious.
Make sure you check out the new menu next time you are in Costa, you won’t be disappointed!
What I’ve been watching…
I loved the Pride & Prejudice BBC series but the film was a real let down to be honest, my other half agreed with this too as he really enjoyed the BBC series. I watched Sense and Sensibility on my own and really enjoyed that too! You can find both of the BBC series on Netflix which I was very happy about! I’m just so in love with Netflix right now and am addicted to many series on there too. I am loving the new series of Orange is the New Black, Pretty Little Liars, Rita and just started The L Word too! I just love being able to always have something to watch – perfect when I am babysitting for friends, I just take my Macbook and fire up Netflix 🙂
What I’ve been reading…
I’m struggling with reading at the moment, I started off this year doing really well but I haven’t read in a few weeks now. I managed to read my book club book whilst I was on holiday, that was How I Lost You by Jenny Blackhurst and I really enjoyed that then I got half way through Pride and Prejudice on the Kindle and loved it so much I stopped to watch the TV Series and the film and haven’t picked it back up since. I will make it my goal to finish it this week though and get started on something else. I really need to catch up if I want to complete my 52 books project this year 😉
Well that’s all for this month, don’t forget to contact me soon if you have a product that you would like to see in August’s edition!

Here are some products that we have loved this month…
Bugs was sent this new Hot Wheels Super Speed Blastway set to review a few weeks ago and he has been having a blast playing with it. He is really competitive so loves the idea of having to race someone, it makes Hot Wheels a little more fun as he’s not just sat there watching a car go around a track.
This reminds me of a Dragster game that I had when I was little and I used to love that so much. One thing I would say is that it is disappointing that it only comes with one car, which means if you don’t have any other Hot Wheels cars then you can’t play it until you have another one. For me that is a big no-no, selling a product that ‘needs’ two cars but only supplies one.
Luckily we did have other cars and Bugs has had nothing but fun with this. The idea of the game is to be the first to knock out their finish flag as they fly around the track. It’s very simple to put together and take apart so you can store it in the box when not playing with it.
Who has the skills and the speed to cross the finish line first? Send your Hot Wheels flying on the Super Speed Blastway and pitting them against the competition until the finish flag decides who is the ultimate champion! Drivers launch up towards the grandstands so fast, they knock off the pit crew one at a time with every lap until the car in the lead activates the checkered flag for a grand victory. Kids will love the side-by-side racing action activated by two kid-activated slam launchers. Grandstands feature pop off characters activated by every completed lap around the speedway. Finish flag appears at the end of the race to reward the winner! Connects to other Hot Wheels track sets so kids can continue to build an entire world of racing thrills. Priced at around RRP £22.99
Exclusive promotion: buy five Hot Wheels cars to get your hands on a free, limited edition Black Car! For more details go to HotWheelsPromotions.co.uk

Limescale is a bit of a problem in my house, especially in my kettle and iron so I was rather pleased to be sent these fabulous products from Oust! I’ve been busy descaling ever since they arrived and am very pleased with how sparkling everything has come up!
The Drop-in-bag kettle descaler is my favourite as I have such trouble descaling the kettle but this removed all limescale in a matter of minutes! I didn’t know such a product existed and have always used lemon juice to descale but that always took hours!
So if you have a limescale problem do head over to www.oustdescalers.co.uk and find out how you can #OUSTyourhouse 🙂
The Happy Egg Co
The lovely people at The Happy Egg Co sent me my very own signed copy of Totally Chocolate by Eric Lanlard (OMG such an amazing book!) recently as well as a recipe for Peanut Butter & Chocolate Egg Cups which is created by Eric Lanlard especially for The Happy Egg Co!
We will be making these at the weekend and are all very excited as they looks totally amazing. Why not have a go yourselves…
Just click on the above image for full size! Enjoy!
Boo loves doing puzzles so was overjoyed when she was sent the Puzzle Club to have a look at. It has kept her busy these last few weeks and she is already wanting her next issue. She finds some of the puzzles challenging but I would say it is perfect for her age (8) and I will happily buy it for her.
Puzzle Club has been recently launched by the UK’s leading puzzle content provider, Puzzler Media and is a bi-monthly magazine for 7 – 11 year olds. It is the first magazine of its kind that is linked to the Key Stage Two National Curriculum. Puzzler Media has developed the title in conjunction with the world’s leading learning company, Pearson.
The magazine is a 64-page compendium of different puzzles and brain-teasers, from crosswords to wordmazes and sudoku puzzles, all designed to engage children and allow them to apply / learn school-learnt knowledge in a fun and less pressured way. It’s also a great way of keeping children occupied on long car, plane or train journeys, get them practising their handwriting, improving their pen skills, or for SATs and even 11+ exam preparation. The magazine is available to buy in WHSmiths, as well as all large supermarkets and good newsagents.
We are huge fans of Aveeno products! I have terribly dry skin with patches of eczema and Bugs has had awful eczema since he was very little. Aveeno has been wonderful for both of our skin and I would highly recommend you give them a try if you suffer from dry skin problems. My favourite is the Bath & Shower Oil, it leaves my skin feeling amazing!
Aveeno have just launched their second book “The Dry-ventures of Ellie and Eddie… Happy Skin Holidays” after the success of their first book. You can download both of the eBook’s here http://www.aveeno.co.uk/childrens-dry-skin they really have helped Bugs understand his skin problems and why I have to keep applying cream.
I’ve continued with my Charmed obsession on Netflix this month, it’s got a little bit samey so I’m not into it as much as I was, I broke it up a bit and watched the new Netflix series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt which is good fun! I’m really looking forward to the new Orange is the New Black series coming in June though!
I’m not doing too bad with my 2015 reading list; I’m on my 14th book of the year so far and although I’m not reading as much at the moment as I was back in January I am still on target to read 52 this year! I’ve just finished Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and am moving onto Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets next. I feel a bit blah about reading the Harry Potter books at the moment, it feels like I’ll never get through them and I didn’t enjoy the first as much as I thought I was going to but I’ll solider on and see how it goes 🙂
Well that’s all for this March, don’t forget to contact me soon if you have a product that you would like to see in April’s edition!

Here are some products that we have loved this month…
These Playmobil eggs are a fantastic alternative Easter Egg which the kids will love! They come in four colours blue (boy with tractor), red (pirate with row-boat), pink (princess with vanity station) and yellow (fun at the beach). You can purchase them on the Playmobil website for £6.99 each.
We were sent a fab parcel from the lovely people at BEAR last month which contained their Alphabites cereals to try! Alphabites are a delicious healthy breakfast cereal with no refined sugar, salt, or any other nonsense. Grrr. Instead of refined sugars, we use coconut blossom nectar which contains twice the calcium of milk, and has a naturally low GI. The kids absolutely love this cereal and love the fact that each box contained 4 monster magnets too. BEAR sent me my very own magnets which are now proudly displayed on my fridge…
The kids are now on a mission to collect their names, it’s a good job they love Alphabites as it might take us a while; I can see they will be pinching some of my letters before long 😉
We also had great fun with the amazing craft package that they sent us to create our very own monster letters! They kids loved doing this and we had a wonderful afternoon together crafting! So a very big thank you for that BEAR! 🙂 You can enter the monster design competition too over on the website.
World Book Day Fancy Dress
Bugs was sent this brilliant Harry Potter outfit from the lovely people at Sainsbury’s especially for World Book Day. The outfit includes a cloak with pointy hood, a tie, a wand which makes a noise and lights up when it is waved, glasses and a book cover. It costs £15 and is just perfect for World Book Day!
How fab is it that you can just nip to your local Sainsbury’s and pick up such brilliant fancy dress like this. Sainsbury’s have lots of other outfits for World Book Day including the Gruffalo, Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks just check out your local store.
What I’ve been reading…
I haven’t managed to read as much as last month but I’ve still managed three books this month. The first book I read was Shopaholic to the Stars by Sophie Kinsella, I love all the Shopaholic series but this one was terrible to be honest, there was no point to the story and absolutely nothing happened and then it ended and I was like WTF? I then read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society which was my latest book club book and I loved it. It’s a book of letters sent between friends and new friends/lovers and it is just such a heart warming story and I’d highly recommend it! Lastly I read The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared which I really enjoyed too! I’ve started reading the Harry Potter books now so I’ll be busy on them for the next month or so 😉
What I’ve been watching…
After my Twilight addiction ended last month I’ve started watching Charmed on Netflix this month, I remember watching it when my oldest was little and it has been great revisiting it! There are 8 series though so it might take me a little while to get through it!
I read Gone Girl the book in January and loved it. The film was very poor in my opinion. My other half hasn’t read the book and he hated the film. It is really slow going and misses so much detail from the book. 2 and a half hours of my life I’ll never get back!
We loved all the Bourne films mainly because I just love Matt Damon so thought we’d give the Bourne Legacy a go seeing as it was on TV last week! We really enjoyed it! Jeremy Renner is fantastic! I was glued to the screen the whole time and then it just went off and I was left needing more!! Definitely worth a watch but it ends rather abruptly without answering many questions.
Well that’s all for this February, don’t forget to contact me soon if you have a product that you would like to see in March’s edition!
