Mommy I’m Here Child Locator Review

Christmas/ Christmas Gift Guide/ gifts/ Guest review

Hi, It’s Dawnie Brown here, Sonia’s sister and also guest reviewer 🙂 You can also find me over my personal blog Knees Up Mother Brown (Excuse the shameless plug for my own blog 😉 )
I’ve been sent a “Mommy I’m Here Child Locator” to review by Safe Girl Security recently and although I’m not a typically paranoid mummy, I do admit dreading the day that Zara will inevitably vanish out of sight. It’s one of those things you see in the supermarket or shopping centres all the time. Crying mums rushing around trying to find their child and each time I see it happen I dread the day that I become that mum. As much as I’m careful, I think it’s almost like a right of passage and with 2 tiny terrors on my hands it will only take a few seconds for it to happen and let’s face it, it’s easy to be distracted by one of the terrors and take your eyes off the other.

The Mommy I’m Here Child Locator is a cute teddy design which attaches to your child’s shoes or belt. You then simply attach the transmitter to your keyring. To activate the locator you simply switch the teddy to on and press the button on the transmitter, you will hear a couple of quiet beeps which signal the locator is armed. Then you can just relax. If you lose sight of your child you simply press the button on the transmitter and the teddy bear starts emitting an alarm sound which alerts you to where your child is. The transmitter works up to 50m/150ft and emits an alarm of 86DB. I’ve done a short video demo of the alarm in action below so that you can see and hear for yourself how it works.

Now Zara is only 2 and still has tiny feet so I found the teddy a bit too big for her little shoes, although it does fit better on her snow boots. As she doesn’t wear a belt I did wonder where I could attach it to at first, but when she is out with us she usually wears her toddler backpack and so we will fasten it to that

I admit I haven’t had to try it out in public yet (thankfully) and we will only be using it when we go to big shopping centres, days out, parks etc where there is a greater chance of her vanishing. We will definitely be using it on Sunday when we go to visit Durham Lumiere festival as with all those crowded streets it will be reassuring to know if my little madam does wander we can find her again 🙂

I do however think it is a great idea. The child locator sells for £19.99 on the Safe Girl website here and is available in pink or brown. I think under £20 for peace of mind is pretty good value really 🙂

Christmas Gift Guide – Fairy Princess Play Tent

Christmas/ Christmas Gift Guide/ gifts

Very much to my daughter’s delight we were sent the Fairy Princess Play Tent to review last week from Garden Games. Personally I think every little girl would LOVE one of these! Their own little corner of the world to escape to! Fill it with cushions and books for their own little reading den, perfect for princess tea parties when their friends come round to play. The list of ideas could go on and on and I am sure the little Princesses will be able to come up with many more uses for it than I ever could ;O)

Fairy Princess Play Tent – Garden Games £79.99

The Fairy Princess Play tent is absolutely beautiful, It hads fabric windows and doors that you can roll up and tie out of the way or keep closed for that little bit of privacy your princess my require! The frame is made from solid wood poles (none of the plastic rubbish that you usually get) making it really strong and sturdy! The poles are all connected with plastic connectors – you just slot all the poles into place and then screw them in to secure them for added stability. We decided not to screw the poles into place as we will be moving house soon and thought that it would be a lot of hassle to take down once the screws were in.

We have had many play tents over the years; granted they were all alot cheaper but none of them were anywhere near the quailty of the Fairy Princess Play Tent! In my opinion this is a really GREAT buy! Knowing what I do now I would happily pay the £79.99 for it, just to see the look on Boo’s face when she was presented with it ;O) Boy do I wish I had filmed that!!! We put it up in the corner of her bedroom when she was at school the other day and her little face was PRICELESS when she got home! She now spends much more time playing in her room and the princess dresses are getting used alot more too! We have a VERY happy little girl! Thank you Garden Games!

I was very pleased with the service we received from Garden Games; I received an email to let me know my order had been placed, one when  it was being picked and one when it had been sent for delivery – which arrived the very next day! Brilliant service! I would happily use them again :O)

Garden Games have a huge selection of outdoor toys –Trampolines, swimming pools, climbing frames, swings, playhouses and many many more! Take a peep at their website to see if you can be tempted  😉

Christmas Gift Guide – Peppa Knitted Animal Finger Puppets in Giftbag

Christmas/ Christmas Gift Guide/ gifts

Hello All it’s Kara from Innocent Charms Chats passing by Sonia’s blog with a little review.

We were lucky enough to be sent The Peppa Knitted Animal Finger Puppets in Giftbag from Baby E.

First off I was hugely pleased that the Animal Finger Puppets are made in a lovely little village in India and are helping to support Fair Trade, in many walks of my life I have purposely bought Fair Trade items where possible and I was pleased to follow this through with toys for my little munchkins.

When I opened the handy little pouch the Finger Puppets came in, I was not disappointed to find these gorgeous little hand knitted animals, they have the sweetest faces and personalities.

Initially I had thought the Finger Puppets would be geared more towards Grayson, to help with his developmental issues, but once I started showing them to Grayson and making the animal noises, Addison’s little face began to smile and show interest.

There are 5 animals included in the little gift set for £10.99, Tiger/Panda/Crocodile/Lion and Elephant, we actually played with the Elephant as a Mouse, I think that’s one of the great things about the puppets you can interpret and play with them anyway yours or your child’s imagination allows.

The puppets are interactive play toys for the whole family from a young age, we would stroke them against Addy and Gray’s faces whilst making animal noises so they can distinguish and learn, in particular I think they both enjoyed the Lion the most because of the mane, it is the most tactile of the puppets and would tickle there nose whilst we played.

The puppets fit into the changing bag with ease and we even took them to one of Grayson’s therapy sessions and the therapist loved them, they said puppets are a great developmental tool as they give you a chance to get the child interested and motivated whilst trying to help physical weaknesses, we used them to distract Grayson whilst he was strengthening his leg tone.

I think the great thing about the puppets is not only do the babies enjoy them now at 6 months and 2 years but as they get older and there playing changes they will probably use them in games with one another without the help of us.

All in all we as a family love the puppets, they have worked well, particularly more with Addy at bringing on her sensory development, they have become a permanent fixture in our nappy bag for trips out as they take little space and being organic and fair trade makes them all the better.

The Tinytown baby blanket is beautiful! Simple as that really! Everything about it I just LOVE. It is so soft and snuggly! It looks absolutely gorgeous and is just perfect for my little Bugs who can be seen toddling around the house with it on many occasions ;O)

It is beautifully made, a really lovely thickness and the fleece on the back is so super soft – in fact I need one! I must have one for snuggling under while watching movies in the Winter! I really love the Tinytown design; it is perfect for little boys!

It’s a great size, not cot size but perfect for using in the pushchair on a chilly day or around the house and for daytime naps! It washes really well and although it can be ironed doesn’t really need it. You can also buy this gorgeous tinytown comforter to match! So cute!

Christmas Gift Guide – Baby Casting Kits

Christmas/ Christmas Gift Guide/ gifts

ABC Baby Gifts sell a great selection of Baby casting Kits for you to do in your own home – all at a very reasonable price too! I really think these kits make wonderful Christmas presents! It is so lovely to have such a special keepsake of your little one’s tiny features!

Baby Casting Kits & Photo Frame – £16.00

Baby Imprint Casting Kit Tin – £10.00

Baby Ornament Imprint Casting Kit – £8.00
We have been sent these kits to try out and I love them! They are a really great gift idea for new parents or babies first Christmas! I especially love the Ornament kits as I think this would be lovely to make for a Mum, Dad or Grandparent for Christmas! The kits are really easy to do and have very simple to follow instructions. You just need to place the foil bag of clay in hot water to soften, knead the clay for 5-10 minutes and then you’re ready to begin getting your imprint! Bugs really didn’t like me pressing his hand into the clay at all but it was only for 20-40 seconds for a lifetime memory so I ignored his moaning ;O)
The tin is great because it’s quite large and it would be possible to do and older toddlers or pre-schoolers imprint in this! Boo’s hand would fit in and she is 5 but probably the size of a 7 year old! Boo was really keen to do this as well so it’s something nice that you can do with you child for not really a great expense either! Love them!
Check out ABC Baby Gifts for the Imprint Kits and many other great gift ideas xxx
