I’m going to say it, and you’re probably not going to like me for it, but it’s only 98 sleeps until Christmas. Yes, yes, I know many of you are only just recovered from the long summer break, which at times has most likely left you pulling your hair out, but as we welcome a new season, it suddenly dawned on me how close Christmas Day actually is!
I don’t think I’m the only who will have noticed that nip in the air on the school run each morning, the kids certainly haven’t – every morning they moan that they are cold. It’s time to start bringing out the coats, hats, scarves, gloves and tights. I always leave coat shopping until we actually need them, where as some parents are super organised and have them ready to go back to school in, I’m usually digging out the old coats to see if we can squeeze a few more days wear out of them and then of course when they don’t even button up because the kids have grown so much it’s really time to start thinking about new ones.
Today I am bringing you our top 3 winter coats for boys and girls from Melijoe, I’ve had a little help from the kids here too There is just so much choice over at Melijoe so it was really hard to just narrow it down to our three favourites…
If there is nothing you fancy here head over to Melijoe and take a look for yourself, you will be sure to find something that you absolutely love
Who doesn’t love a good wedding? We have been invited to a wedding this summer and I have been looking all over for gorgeous outfits for Boo. If there is one thing I love it is shopping for pretty clothes for my little girl and Melijoe have the most beautiful selection. Here you will find our favourite dresses for a very special occasion.
This dotted tulle dress from Richmond Jr is Boo’s first choice and I have to agree with her that it is absolutely beautiful, I know she would look just stunning in it. It’s currently reduced from £368 to £221 – unfortunately that’s a little above what I would want to pay for a dress, if it was my own wedding or a special family member then maybe I would stretch to that but there is no denying that it is a very pretty dress.
This Roberto Cavalli Kids printed silk dress is more in my price range at £96. I love the print and think it would be perfect for a summer wedding, in fact I’d really like to wear this one myself.
This Milano jersey and flower-printed cotton dress by Monnalisa is so pretty, I love the flower detail round the neckline and how it flares out at the bottom. It is currently reduced to £150 from £213 too!
I just love the colour of this LESY Crepe and embroidery dress, Boo would always choose a pink dress but I would love to see her in this
The pleats on this SUZANNE ERMANN Flared pleated muslin dress are lovely, this is another one that wouldn’t be Boo’s first choice but I think it would love gorgeous on her
If you are looking for a special dress for your little girl this summer then head over to Melijoe, they have an amazing selection of dresses, bags, shoes, hair accessories and much much more.
The summer holidays are drawing near so I thought I’d put together some top tips for travelling with children. Travelling with children can be super stressful but if you prepare yourself it can be a whole lot of fun
- We like to break up travelling wherever possible so if we were flying out of the country then we would drive to Heathrow and take advantage of the Park Stay n Go offer at Holiday Inn Heathrow Ariel. That way we get to stay overnight before our flight and our parking is taken care of too.
- Let the kids pack a bag with their favourite books and games in for the flight – I always check what they’ve put in so we don’t end up lugging heavy books around with us. Tablets are wonderful for keeping children entertained. We also make sure they have a pair of headphones each so they can get on with playing games, watching films etc without causing any noise irritation to other passengers.
- I always wrap a comic and an activity book up and let them open it on the flight, that way they feel very excited about getting a little present and mine always love to do activity books.
- Take baby wipes… wherever there are children (and husbands) there is always mess so these are my MUST HAVE travel accessory! I don’t leave the house without a pack nowadays.
- Lots of snacks. I always try to pack something a little different so it’s not the same old boring packet of raisins. I always avoid chocolate as mine tend to cover themselves in it.
- While flying we always love to talk about what we are going to do on holiday, Boo always writes a list of everything she’d liked to see and do… this always keeps her happy and gets her excited!
- My daughter gets really painful ears when taking off so I always take some boiled sweets for her to suck on, but for babies/toddlers a bottle/sippy cup or dummy will help.
- Allow yourselves plenty of time, there’s no point trying to rush around with kids so just plan in some extra time to get wherever you need to get to. It will be much less stressful if you know you don’t have to rush.
- Make sure you have insurance! It really is better to be safe than sorry
- Don’t forget sunscreen and insect repellent!
Wherever you go and whatever you get up to this summer I hope you have an amazing time

I can’t admit to travelling a great deal, I’ve been on a couple of cheap flights to France and that was the only time I have left the country, this may be due to the fact that my parents couldn’t afford to take us abroad when we were kids but also because I just don’t really fancy it.
I love nothing more than visiting new places in the UK and yes I would love to see the world at some point but I really am a homebird! The flights that I have been on were certainly nothing special, no food or drink, entertainment, comfy seats or leg room… it could have just been a bus into town if we hadn’t have been high in the sky 😉
The Golden Age of Holidays: Then or Now? article really got me thinking… I often long for days gone by where we only have 4 channels on the TV and we’d be out all day long playing. I feel bad that my kids don’t experience how I used to live, they don’t get the freedom to explore with their friends. One thing that I do want to make sure they experience is to travel more than I did. We have certainly covered a great deal of the UK with them and a good deal of Brittany but I want to take them out of their (and mine) comfort zone and explore new cultures.
The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.
I can’t admit to knowing what it was like to travel in the 1950’s, I’m sure it was a very exciting time with so many new things being invented and discovered but a very hard time to live too… so my golden age of travel is right now mainly because I’m here in the right now but also because there are so many more options nowadays and you can pick up some absolute bargain holidays online. It may be less comfortable to fly but I’ll take safety over comfort any day of the week!
Fatal accidents occurred around once every 200,000 flights during the 1950s, they now occur less than once every 2,000,000 flights.
I really love how people used to dress in the 1950’s and would love to be around then just for the fashion! The ladies always looked so stylish, the swimwear was especially beautiful.
Yes so for me the only thing I’d go back to the 50’s for is the clothes! What about you?

Last month I showcased some gorgeous clothes for Spring from Melijoe, this month we are thinking about getting beach ready so we will be showing you some fabulous picks from their website that are perfect for hitting the beach.
As always I handed the Melijoe website over to the kids so they could choose their favourite things. First up is 8 year old Boo. She loves nothing more than being on the beach and loves to have lots of fab accessories, seriously she could have spent all day and every single penny I own on the Melijoe website! She finally settled on just five items… a swimsuit, sunhat, flip flops, beach bag and some sunnies
What do you think of her picks, I think she has just about everything she would need for a perfect day at the beach don’t you? I would absolutely love that swimsuit and those flip flops for myself never mind Boo 😉
Next up is 4 year old Bugs, he LOVES to choose new clothes and always likes to choose what he wears every day and if I have happened to choose and it’s not right then he storms off upstairs to find something that he does want to wear. I love that strong mindedness 😉
You’ll be very pleased that the choice for boys at Melijoe is just as extensive as it is for girls, I really hate that boys don’t get as many options especially on the high street so it is really wonderful to go to a website and discover hundreds of pages of gorgeous boys clothes.
I adore Bugs’ choices especially those turtle shorts, they are so bright and funky… I wouldn’t have any problems picking him out of the crowds in those 😉
I really love the choice at Melijoe, you simply cannot visit without falling in love with something or if you are like us many many things! Head over at check it out for yourself and make sure you are beach ready
Last month we discovered Melijoe and Bugs reviewed some of their clothes, he is still loving the items that he picked, they are fabulous quality and actually still look like new so we are very very impressed!
This month the kids have picked three of their favourite items for Spring from the Melijoe website to show you all. They would spend hours looking and have a very full shopping cart if I let them 😉
Boo is really into wearing dresses at the moment, nothing too fancy just casual for everyday play and these are perfect for that… they are so easy to wash and wear, can be worn over tights, leggings, jeans or just bare legs with sandals, trainers etc so they are so versatile! Every girl needs these dresses in their wardrobe… I wish they did them in my size! 😉
Bugs loves wearing polo shirts at the moment, I’ve no idea why he suddenly started but I have to say I’m pleased as he looks so smart in them Here are the three that he really would like…
I have to say I’m pretty impressed with all of their picks, I love giving them choice in their clothes and letting them find their own style. I wish I had been given the chance to explore fashion as a child, maybe I wouldn’t be so terrible at dressing myself like I am now 😉
Do pop over to Melijoe if you like what you see here, they have some amazing clothes from many many brilliant brands.
